Is There a Good Deal of Solar Water System in Syd Pls?

My house in insuraned with CGU and the solar hot water system on my roof is gone yesterday due to the storm.

Last April storm have destroyed our skylight and the appointed company Riverwall construction have not be able to stop the water came out of the new skyline since it has been installed until today.

Should i still claim this damage through CGU this time? I need my hot water system for shower. Also my hot water system is very old. Will it be covered? I do not want to pay the excess fee to CGU and have a doggy hot water system installed again.

Just curious was your roof damaged and were the panels blown away or damaged by trees?

  • Rather than solar look at a heat pump system, might be more suitable

    • Solar is still more energy efficient, though, and more expensive, right, so why downgrade to heat pump?

      • To me when I read what the OP was suggesting, was that the system needed to be replaced, so if they cant claim that on insurance, all I was suggesting is look at a cheaper to install alternative.

Running costs are similar depending on location (eg if rooftop solar isnt in full sunlight)

        As I said "might be".

  • How was your hot water service damaged by the storm?

  • Thanks so much for your reply.

Dad have got on top of the roof and it is only some water pipe broken due to branch of a tree maybe?

Dad is a hero — he have fixed it for us:)

    • I'm afraid to ask, but how old are you ?
