I bought this a couple days ago - the smart features are not worth bothering with, I just use a Chromecast instead. However, seems a decent 50" TV for the price, I'm no expert to compare its panel to anything else though.
I'm no expert also.. :-) I just did a bit of a read on product review on TCL sets and it was not good.
I thought they were better than what some in there say?
None of the TCL TVs on Product Review have more than five reviews. Not exactly representative considering TCL sold 20 million plus sets last year (according to their US website).
Same here, I really just wanted a decently-sized panel with a fair warranty. Very happy so far.
EPG is a bit lacking and it doesn't seem to detect my 5GHz WiFi band but other than that I don't have any complaints. Not bad for a 50" under $500.

I can say that the "Sony In Ear MDRE9LP Earphones" are actually fantastic, especially for the price. Durable, and the frequency response is good. Would recommend.
Thank you for charging me 38c less than $10 so i can feel good about being sent headphones. the 38c makes all the difference. I am at peace. I think it cost me less in terms of weight for a few tonne of gravel to be dumped in my driveway

Got my sony earphones today but the left side is not working and it has horrible sound quality. Hopefully they will replace it without any hassle.
I have been using this 50" TCL FHD TV since 2013 it is still going good.. I have no complaint about it. I have hooked up my Astone network Media Player, my Laptop through HDMI, Chromecast and PS3 and still powering along very nicely. I bought it for nearly $800 3 years ago from HN.
I was so impressed with TCL that I baught another TCL 50" TV but this time it was UHD and was a gift to my dad. After looking at the quality of the UHD TV I want to replace mine with UHD too. I baught UHD TCL 50" for meerly $860 and also took it overseas so got $78 GST back. When I checked price of other UHD TV in the market overseas, specs lesser than my UHD tv was selling for more than double price. Which braught a sneaky smile on my face.
New UHD TV has nice apps and OS than my old FHD TV. I would recommend TCL to anyone.

Yes I did bring the 50" Tv overseas. If I were to buy the similar Tv, not the same brand same features, it was 2.5 times the price of the TCL tv I bought.. my family is happy as.. yes it took me 3 hours to pack The TV box in bubble wrap and lots and lots of fragile tape..but TV reached home safely.. watched so many blue ray movie..awesome picture quality.. didn't care about the sound much as I bought them the Sony home theatre system. Now I wish that I should have the UHD tv to instead of Full HD
The 50" TCL for $462.40 collect looks a good buy. 100HZ wifi FHD smart TV 3yr manuf wty. Shows as nearly $200 more at appliance online.
