I installed this on my apartment door 6 months ago and it's fantastic. My kids love unlocking the door when they get home from school. There has also been times when my father had to get in when I wasn't home and I made a code for him and he used it to get in.

I also have a Lockwood deadbolt which I only lock when I'm going away few days.

    Highly recommended

I got one of these last time they were on special at Masters.
I also use the Lockwood keypad units.
I use the Master's one on a less important internal door as I like the convenience of keypad. The build quality is nowhere near the the lockwood and batteries last approx half (12months) vrs Lockwood which has run on the same set over 2 years with 2-4 times daily use.
The mechanism feels much smoother in the lockwood. Make sure with any of these you spend the time on the alignment of the bolt passageway. Any binding here will cause issues and short battery life. (not a true ozbarganer as i have not tried running eneloops in them yet…..)

The master's one supports random numbers at the start or end of your sequence. Lockwood does something similar.
For the price, its a good lock. For high volume use, I'd go the lockwood from personal experience.

I got 2 from last deal for $89 each(thanks to ozbargain). Life has been mich easier. I keep a key in my car just in case but it has been very impressive with battery life as well.

Door knocker usually start pressing on it thinking it's the door bell. When I get unsolicited people I tell them everytime someone touches it takes a photo.

  • So my front door just has a handle/lock combo. If I install this deadbolt from scratch, do I even need to lock the handle?? If I do, then I still need a key for the handle, and then my pin for the deadbolt?!

    • Correct. You dont have to lock the handle if you dont want to. Im planning to install from scratch also. If im heading out for awhile i will lock both, however if im just going down the road i will probably just use the deadbolt. It's handy for me because a lot of the time I walk out the front door and then go to the back garden, so at least now I dont need to take keys with me to lock the front door while im out the back.

  • i got a screen door then a big wooden door behind it.. i don't think this will fit on the screen door. Good price tho.. thanks op..

  • Recently replaced one of these after 9 months or so of daily use, batteries probably lasted 6 months at ours.

Not bad for the current price and easy to install, not convinced they will last long-term but we may well have had a lemon.

  • Out of stock in lots of places

  • Just wondering, what's the point of setting different code for different users if there's no log to show who access the door?

    • +2

Easier to deny access to people if required.

  • Also have on of these at my front door along with a standard double deadbolt and security cameras.

    Hope I'm safe now :)

  • Addressing the inside turn knob vs. key,

Do people even break or pick locks any more?

Every news story I read says thieves broke a window to get in…

    Imho

  • Is this easy to install? I've installed entrance door knobs before

Can I just remove my current door knob and replace it with this touch one?

  • cant find anywhere in WA I think.

  • I currently have a standard deadbolt. Sometimes when the weather is very cold, I have trouble turning the key to get the bolt to slide into the hole properly when locking the door. I assume the door contracts in the cold. How would that affect this lock since the bolt slides in by itself? I guess in that situation it won't engage properly. Most of the time the door is fine.

  • Are there video guides for how to install one of these?

    • +1

Yes on YouTube and their website

      • Thanks.

  • Can these be rekeyed to match lockwood keys?

    • Answered my own question. Brought it to a locksmith who did it for $16.50. Great stuff!

      • Curious, why would you do this?

        • +1

So I only need one key for the locks in my house.

        • @tanksinatra:

Sweet, so the one key opens two different locks?
Didn't even know that was possible.

          @millzy:
Yeah if the lock is compatible so that the key fits in (and most locks are), all they need to do is change the pins in the tumbler to match your other key. Easy job for a locksmith if you bring them the lock and key.

Anyway I installed this lock and it works reasonably well. It replaced my deadbolt. I have a separate latch. It was mostly plug and play - no new holes needed.

Only issue - the stainless metal flange around the bolt did not sit flush with the door frame. It was a lot thicker than the old lock so I had to chisel out some wood to make it fit.

The actual mechanism is not suuuper smooth - it clicks and grinds a bit. But that might be my particular installation. My strike plate needs some adjustment. I installed it on a rear door for when I forget my keys and it works for that. Certainly I'm very happy given the price.

  • Hi all. These are back in stock and I picked one up from my local for $62. I am having trouble changing the main code and then subsequently setting up pins. I am following the instructions and have watched the video. Am I doing it too slow? Has anyone else found it difficult to program?
