I wonder how these high quality 500TC sheets would compare to the OzBargain favourite 1000TC Target sheets?

    • +13

not that great. Target ones are boss

      • How much are the Target ones?

        • I think $69 for a queen size,

        • @spawnpoint: Is it the price or quality that makes it a favourite?

I got my QB 1000TC set from Coles, which were originally $45 but I got on clearance for $29. It looks and feels the same as the other 1000TC set that cost me more.

      • compared to Adairs softest sheets?
        cant believe it

  • The free gift isn't appearing for me in the cart, after signing in multiple times and having $151 worth of stuff in there…

    • +1

I'm getting the same thing happen. As the T's & C's say "An alternative product of equal or lesser value [$49.95] will be given if the free gift is not available.". Just waiting for them to pick up on the phone now, if I get any more info from them beyond this I will update.

    • +1

Did they say what the free gift is meant to be? It could be something cheap that has its price over-inflated, like a lightning cable from Apple.

      • +3

No one picked up from Sheridan, was on hold for a good 20+ mins so I hung up. Sorry everyone. I can't be sure of what the free gift is either :(.

Anyone know if the Quilt cover has ties to tie the blanket to the corners?

    • Use safety pins?

My blankets have different dimensions to the quilt cover which has different dimensions to the quilt, which has different dimensions to the flat sheet. All purchased for QB size, and all from Ikea except the sheet set.

      Nothing ever aligns properly.

      • Prefer not to have pins. My quilt has a tie sewn in ready to go, but my current quilt cover has no loop…

        • Wouldn't the blankets need a loop also?

        • @lostn:

?? I just want to connect the quilt inside to the quilt cover.

        • @2jzzzz: Oh, right. That would be handy.

You did mention blankets, so I thought you meant blankets not the quilt itself.

        • @lostn:

Yep, quilt and blanmet are the same to me haha.

  • +1

"We apologize, your free gift is not available at the moment"
…okay… T&C's say "An alternative product of equal or lesser value will be given if the free gift is not available."

  • is Sateen the same thing as Satin?

    • +2

Sateen is a weave type. See also Percale (google it) as both are often compared

Satin is a marketing term for sheets that feel silky and shiny. Satin sheets can be made of either silk (expensive) or synthetic threads (cheap polyester)

  • Are quilt covers worth it? Or there are other brands with comparable quality that are cheaper?

    • That's what I'm wondering too. I just bought a 1200TC quilt cover set (king) from Kogan for $40 (20% eBay discount) which used to be sold for $120+
Are the Sheridan's better? The RRP's are inflated, but by how much?

Can anyone tell me what sheets are good for winter? Flannel or Flannelette was meant to be good, but I got an Egyptian Flannelette and it is still cold to the touch when you get in.

Getting into bed each night is like getting into a swimming pool. It's the hardest part! Once you've settled in, it's nice and you don't want to get out, but getting in man…

    • +1

At the end of the day, it's the temperature which determines it. Flannelette is "fluffy" so has less surface area to the touch. This will cause it not to feel as cold, as the heat is withdrawn at a lower rate. I personally don't like the feel though.
What can help a lot is buying a down quilt. I recently bought some from a reputable eBay seller (95% Hungarian Duck Down, 7 blankets warmth rating). It is very thick, yet weighs absolutely nothing, so it does not press against you when you get in. It co$t$ a bit, but worth it.

      • I got some Target flannelette sheets and they are awesome. The fluff comes off for a little while, but then they settle down and are excellent.

      • It's not that my quilt isn't warm enough, it's that I sleep between a fitted and flat sheet, and both of those are cold until your body heat has warmed it up. Like sitting on a leather seat in winter.

Even a thick quilt won't change that, unless I drop the flat sheet, but the fitted would still be cold. It makes me curl up into a ball when I get in.

I sleep with clothes on and it's still too cold. I don't know how people who sleep nude do it.

        • +2

I don't know how people who sleep nude do it.

There have someone else in the nude next to them.

You could put an electric blanket on the base, then turn it on half an hour before you are getting into bed, and crank it off when you are getting into bed.

Warms everything up, but won't cook you overnight.

        • @klownz: This is what I do

        • @klownz: Can you feel the wires under you? Because if you can, I don't want it.

        • @lostn:

I don't use one but I'd say it depends on the blanket you get, or whether you use an overlay with it.

I've been in beds with electric blankets before and not felt the wires…

      • Make it so, which ebay seller did you buy it from?

The problem with ebay or non branded product such as Sheridan is that a seller may advertise Hungarian Duck Down but then use normal duck down and there's no way I can verify it either way.

        • +1

I bought it from bargainquilts: http://stores.ebay.com.au/bargainquilts/
Which is actually this place: http://supremequilts.com.au/

Actually, it was Goose Down, sorry. I did a lot of research, and these guys are legit (see also https://www.facebook.com/pages/Supreme-Quilts/19578146715729…). I bought two quilts (different sizes), and they are amazing. Very warm, but not "sweaty", and you don't even feel the weight of these. Very high quality compared to the things they sell at Myer and all.

        • @Make it so:

Thanks, it's getting pretty chilly lately.

Sorry, so it's Polish Goose down?

I'll check if it's cheaper via eBay or direct via the store.

        • @JB1: I bought the Hungarian Goose Down. I don't know why Polish geese are cheaper.
I was tired of having to stack multiple blankets, so that I cannot see the nice quilt covers which we spend money on. With a 7-blanket quilt cover, it is warm enough even during the coldest nights. But interestingly, it's not overly warm during the warmer (12 degree) nights.

        • @Make it so:

I bought these from them 2-3 years ago. They are very warm, I do find I sweat in them though.

        • @Make it so:

          +1 for this company
love my quilt, see whirlpool for reviews.

ps 5 blanket warmth is more than enough here in sydney

    • +1

buy an electric blanket to heat up the bed before you get in

      also use a woolen underlay

    • I have bought a few flanny sheets from Sheridan before and they are just heavenly at night. The ones on sale sale as "Waard" look like one of the better ones I bought before, though under a different name.

  • I really wonder who would buy those at original prices……

  • Wish there were some good quality regular sheets available. Don't like sateen.

    • Agreed. What happened to nice heavy crisp linen sheets? They are hard to find.

      • I bought some great linen sheets/quilt covers from Sheridan a few weeks ago when they were on special. They're great.

      • its also about weave, Percale is the one youre looking for i believe.

  • +2

I will never buy 1000TC <$100 as they don't last. Yes they felt great in the first couple weeks then produced too much lint. Such poor quality you would be better off with Sheridan which lasts a lot longer.

    • I bought some cheaper 1000TC from harris scarfe: full refund at 6 months for pilling

  • +6

Thread count is not a standardised measure… Its mostly marketing.

  • +1

These are a good price: http://www.sheridanoutlet.com.au/sheridan-ryan-towel-range-s…

Back of 2 bath towels for $25 (white).

  • Has anyone got the free gift to work?

    • Unsure. Is it simply added to the parcel, or should it show on checkout?

  • +4

Weeeeell I just spent 400 bucks

    • I believe that's worth a plus vote at least :)

      And enjoy

Combine this deal with the Tontine June up to 60% off sale, free shipping over $30:

    http://www.tontine.com.au/

For reasonably priced doonas and pillows to put into your new Sheridan linens. That's what I did, crazy Friday night buying a whole new bedset.

    • +2

      Party animal!!

    • Except if you want feathers/down. This guy looks to be same price or cheaper for a better 85% down quilt: www.supremequilts.com.au

  • "We apologise but your free gift is not available at the moment".

  • No one has picked up that the ad states UNDER $99?

  • DAmmit! i forgot that cash rewards gave another 5% discount!

  • anyone receive their orders yet? What's taking so long?

    • Mine's shipped. Normally takes close to two weeks to WA.

    • I got my order a couple of days ago in separate orders.
They also didn't have stock of one of my items, so they refunded me for that.

      • cool cool. I got mine soon after posting. Really happy with it, bedtime has never been so comfortable!

  • I got my order. But no free gift. Anyone else got a gift?

  • They refunded our 3 X quilt cover orders

After a phone call, they agreed to honor the $99 price on any 3 quilt cover sets so we got

SHERIDAN 1200TC PALAIS LUX TAILORED QUILT COVER
SHERIDAN EVERYDAY LINEN QUILT COVER SET
SHERIDAN 700TC LEXINGTON QUILT COVER SET

These were not in the $99 sale so all over happy for the purchase

Plus cashrewards off course on the original prices lol

    • why the refund? I don't get it. explain yourself better

      • -1

They refunded our quilt order due to items being OOS.

I called them and complained why the stock levels were not accurate.

The nice lady then told us to choose any 3 quilts and they would charge us $99 each for them,

SO we paid full price for 3 quilts and got refunded any excess over $297

        • Don't know why people would neg you for this.
Good that they honoured it. It is annoying when people advertise things they haven't got, and waste people's time.
Presumably you also did not get any gift for buying above $150?

        • @Make it so:

          No gift :(

Need to call them about it

EDIT: They gonna send us some fig towels as a gift
