These come with a little IR receiver inside the back cover that needs to be plugged into the front of your PS4. It is 'nano' sized however.
Any reason to use this instead of the DS4 controller?
It's form is the same as a normal remote control, therefore more comfortable and practical to use for those using their console to watch media.
Also to use the IR part if you have a universal remote like a Harmony etc.
Also because this remote is likely to use bugger all in batteries so no need to run down the controller if you don't have to
