Game of Thrones Season 6 (Pre Purchase) $23.49 @ Google Play Store

540

This has just recently become available for purchase. There are currently no episodes available for season 6, but my understanding they are coming quite soon. The other seasons cost $27.99, so this is cheap price for the latest season.

Is your other alias CisWhiteMaelstorm? At least it isn't Spez.

  • +4

A tad late isn't? The season finale is next week.

    • +8

Blame it on Murdoch and co. Yet they wonder why Australia has the hjighest ratio for torrenting GOT.

Although HBO is much too blame too for locking out their own app.

      • +1

I take it you're not referring to the upload:download ratio.

        • +2

There has to be a paid option better than Foxtel which is terrible..

I Refuse To Feel Guilty For Torrenting Game Of Thrones

        • +2

It's not your right to receive Game of Thrones fast-tracked and free.

Who said free? It was proven that Australian's would rather pay for the show rather than torrent. iTunes had season 3 as it aired. People paid for it. Then Foxtel took over and piracy jumped again.

        • -4

@lostn: Buy a Foxtel subscription and stop sooking.

        • +2

          @lostn:

The guy is on full troll mode, stop giving him lollies.

        • -2

@FabMan: I think the guy who blames Rupert Murdoch (i.e. the guy who provides GoT to Australians)for his and his countrymen's inability to watch GoT and the guy who links Kotaku articles to justify his illegal acquisition of the show are the ones who are trolling.

If you want to watch GoT on Australian TV on the day it releases, you can. Stop complaining.

      • +1

Why torrent these days when repo streaming thru Kodi/ SPMC etc is so easy & in 1080p too! And you don't get those silly copyright messages from your ISP either!

        • +1

shhhhh…you'll slow streams down with your positive advertising!

    • I can't be the only person who waits patiently for it to appear on Google!

      • +5

It's 2016. By the time is becomes available you are bound to come across plenty of spoilers. Seriously, there is an episode 10 preview and episode 9 discussion on The Age right now.

        • +3

I'm checking Ozbargain while making a cup of tea with S06E09 on pause.
          Waiting patiently like everyone else

        • I did think it was 2016, but thanks for confirming.

        • +1

@Gofast: I salute your effort. I don't know how it is possible to avoid GoT spoilers when the show is as big as it is now.

      • Same here. Waiting then purchase Full HD version from Play store.

  • +2

I'm not spending a cent on GoT until there is a complete set available, this season has been a lot better than 5, also the seasons episode 8&9 are soooooo good, hurry up and watch… šŸ‘

    • +3

Episode 8 was one of the worst episodes of the series. Ep9, however. Good stuff…

      • +1

        Agreed on 8. Oh man.

9 was good but there was a distinct lack of surprises. In fact, the last few episodes have been very predictable.

GoT's schtick has been to set up expectations and then knock them down. Now they're just playing it straight.

        • +2

The story is coming to an end. All the pieces are falling together. It makes no sense killing major plot characters now. If they die, they will die near the end of the story (I.e a bitter sweet ending).

        • I wouldnt get too confident, there is one more episode to go

    • But there is steelbook editions…

    • That will be 2 more years of shows, which means 3 years until Bluray of season 8 is released, with your complete collection.

    • 9 was good but 8 was simply painful.

  • +4

It costs $27.99 if you want HD, which is pretty essential. Other seasons are $32.99 in HD, so not the worst deal if waiting it out.

  • Cannot really confirm but Sanity told me that season 6 will be out on DVD & Bluray in November back when season 5 released.

    • +5

I'm surprised Sanity is still in business.

      • I know!!! I can never get my favourite shows on tape for my VCR.

    • +2

Don't the bluray/DVDs always come out 2-3 months before a new season starts? Around February and March?

      • Yep, Feb/Mar/Apr each year. The sanity employee is an imbecile.

        • The sanity employee is an imbecile.

I would have agreed but they already started pre-orders for it the day season 5 released.

        • @Dagmar: Maybe how they stay in business, collecting peoples money first. :P

  • When do the episodes actually become available?

    • +1

7 days (when the season finale airs on Foxtel).

  • +3

Season 6 is that the one were Snow gets killed and eaten by ghost

    • -1

Yep got killed but not eaten by ghost though ;). Last week episode is also interesting too.

  • +2

I will get it from the Itunes Store. $30.99 for a HD full season pass available from 28th June.

  • -1

GOT, it's no The Sopranos or The Wire. It's just the storyline of Bold & the Beautiful with amazing cinematography/locations/special effects (which is fine if you're into it).

I think I'm more a drama person than a fantasy drama person.

    • I love all three, i'm a TV gets in the way of my sex life now and then guy.

    • +2

I think you're underselling it. The storyline thanks to its book foundation has the kind of coherence and foresight that most US show writers can only dream of. If I had to think of a show that doesn't deserve the plot or writing kudos it gets, it would be Breaking Bad.

      • +2

This is going in subjective territory and it's your personal preference in the end, but both shows have exceptional writing if you break it down, especially BB. The way it explores the difference between what's right and wrong, and how characters have enormous impact and control over their livelihood and those in it.

If you look at GoT, which other show handles so many different story archs so effectively with so much myth and history filling each character and plot lines?

Throw away comments really hurt the creative genius that go into both of these shows that are at the top of what they do and awards and overwhelming positive reception all reflect this, even in BB's case, the writer of GoT.

  • How do you watch this - iPad? Laptop? Chrome? Tip please.

    • +2

For me for any shows or movies I buy from Google store: Chromecast on to the TV, which you can start and control using the app on the iPad or Android phone or iPhone.

      • Is HD still HD after chrome cast to TV? Try to figure out whether to get SD or HD. Thanks

        • +1

I watch using an android box. I have purchased episodes in HD and SD, and can't see any difference at all in quality, so assume my box can't handle HD. I have no issues with SD, but maybe I don't know what I'm missing!

        • +1

Chromecast does HD. The chromecast communicates directly with Google's servers for getting the video stream, the phone can just control pause / stop / seeking in that stream.

  • +1

I send from Ipad to Chromecast on TV or just connect via Lightning to RCA cable.

  • Hold the deal!

    • +8

      Hodeal

  • +2

Hmm, pre-order price has disappeared from the Play Store? It was there this morning, but gone now?

    • And it's back. :)

  • AUD or USD?

And, what is the quality when using Chromecast? 1080p and DD5.1?

    • +1

AUD, Can't speak to the quality of Chromecast, though.

  • Can one watch Google Play on Google Chrome on a PC, in HD? How about DD5.1? Or is the only way to get HD and DD5.1 via a Chromecast?

    • I'd like to understand this too. Do I end up with a bunch of files I can play on a WDTV or popcornhour media player, or is it more tied down?

  • +1

all the other seasons are now $22.99 on the play store.

  • Bought season 6 in HD today. Streaming quality is excellent. Not quite blu-ray, but good enough, and blu ray won't be out until March and will cost double.
