More cheap memory! It's

  • 204pin SO-DIMM for laptops
  • 16GB Kit (2x 8GB)
  • DDR3L unbuffered & non-ECC at 1.35V / 1.5V
  • 1600MHz

Model number from Crucial is CT2K8G3S160BM and is sold for Mac System however it's probably compatible to many PC laptops that take DDR3L. Cheapest so far according to Camel x3 and even cheaper than non-Mac specific Crucial CT2KIT102464BF160B 2x 8GB.

  • I wonder if there is any difference between Mac & non-Mac one?

Just guaranteed manufacturer compatibility and the word Mac in the name.

almost thought it was desktop ram

  • Thanks for posting. Will this be ok to put in an Intel NUC?

    • Yes I think it should work in NUC that takes DDR3L.

Thanks for the post. I've been thinking of adding some more RAM to my 2014 27" Retina iMac. I bought the same RAM package back in November 2014 and it cost $135.99US which was so much cheaper than anywhere else at the time. I think Apple wanted $400 or something ridiculous to upgrade.
Currently running 2x8GB and 2x4GB (24GB total), so will be good to bump it up to 32GB in total. Also then can sell the 2x4GB for something at least.
    Cheers OP.

    awesome Scotty.

I was looking at Mac ram last week and was tossing up whether to spend US$56/AUS$77. wait a week —->US$49/AUS$66. bam.

    save US$7/AUS$11

no excuse not to buy. (well, I could put up with a slow mac and save the money)

    thanks

edit- final price with 28 degrees -US$48.15/AU$64.30. stoked. OzBargain for the win.

  • Hi, I am very appreciated if someone can tell me whether I can fit these in to this laptop (http://www.dell.com/au/p/inspiron-17r-se-7720/pd), which I am using at the moment. I knew it supports up to 16gb of ram in total, but not sure if the one from this post will work with it. TIA.

    • It takes 1600MHz PC3-12800, And supports up to 16GB (only if you update your BIOS, originally it supported max 8GB)

  • i have 2011 early MBP, always wanted to upgrade.

anyone know this one works? and prof?

    • Nope, This is 1600MHz ram, which is good for Mid-2012 Macbook Pros and onward. You need 1300MHz DDR3, PC3-10600
Pick up a SSD while you're there, the 16GB ram (from 4GB) and the SSD has made it feel like a brand new machine, Premier Pro no longer freezes and lags at all, from being barely usable.

I upgraded an Early 2011 MBP with a $99 Patriot 2x8GB kit yesterday from MSY, I needed it fast (such a typical Mac user, at least I didn't pay 4 times the price, while wearing a scarf and leather elbow patches) so I don't feel bad for missing this deal.

Check your "About This Mac" for your serial number, and you can look it up on Everymac.com and other sites like it to double check what you need exactly, I have done it for you but do it again just in case: don't trust some guy on the internet.

      • thanks so much for the infor. already have 2 SSD 480GB x2 with optical bay swap.

next upgrade should be ram and battery replacement.

althougth the GPU is nowhere close to powerful as nowadays standards. I still love my MBP, treat it as my first-love.

and i am gonna trust you, even if you lied to me (joke)

        have a good day!!!

1 more question: should i buy 1600mhz or 1333mhz, since both of them are compatible with my mac(at least that is what the website tells me)

  • Don't see why this wouldn't work on non-apple laptops. 1.35/1.5v should be fine, so might give it a go, not a big loss if it doesn't work and I'll just sell it. Cheers scotty!

  • Any Idea this will work on a MacBook Pro(5.5) "Core 2 Duo" 2.53 13inch, 4GB Ram. Deal being a 16GB ram, not sure if it will work. Not even sure if the 8 Gb will work on this model.

  • I'm getting $59.54 USD shipped :(

  • Are these compatible or a Clevo W230ST?

    • Haven't got mine in front of me (on holidays)… But it came with this one so i bought another for $47

I've done all sorts with mine, so feel free to ask anything.

  • Looks to have gone back up
