eBay rewards for sellers

Hi Folks,
I received an email saying that "Simply list an item for $50 or more before 25 June 2016 and receive a $25 reward coupon* to spend at eBay.com.au when it sells."
I'm thinking to put something and buy it from another account. Will it bring a profit of $25 for me or is it breach of any conditions?

    Its against their rules:
    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/seller-shill-bidding.htm…

    Policy overview

Shill bidding happens when anyone—including family, friends, roommates, employees, or online connections—bids on an item with the intent to artificially increase its price or desirability. In addition, members cannot bid on or buy items in order to artificially increase a seller's Feedback or to improve the item's search standing.

Make sure you follow these guidelines. If you don't, you may be subject to a range of actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account. Shill bidding is also illegal in many places and can carry severe penalties.

Review our shill bidding policy tutorial to learn more about this policy.

Don't do it, youll get banned. The offer for me is 3 free listings with no final value fees. Also $20 gift voucher if you sell an electronic item above $100, shame I don't have any to sell.

    • I got the same offer but don't have anything to sell.

same offer, but in t&c they put get $100 voucher instead of $20 but now they change the T&C to $20 lol.

So i sent an email asking about it and this is what they said

"We have received reports from other sellers regarding this promotion. We are truly sorry for any confusion and inconvenience this has caused you. We have already escalated this to our Promotions team and we are just awaiting for their clarification. Rest assured that once we get an update from them, we will then be getting back to you. "

      • I didn't check T&C's. Maybe will send a email as well.

Surprised they even want casual sellers on the site. The site is geared towards full time sellers these days.

The deadline for selling your items to qualify for the $20 voucher is 30 June. Coincidence? I think not.

eBay is doing this to make their figures look good on paper before they have to submit their EOFY reports.

    • maybe its to just get people back on their site because some of the sellers who left were also buyers.

That would be a lot of effort for ~$22.00

  • I got "get $25 coupon for every $100 you sell" up to $75, or $300 worth of sales, before 30 June.

    I also got a 20% off a $75 purchase.

  • I got an email where I can set a sell Goal and would be rewarded accordingly. Sell $100 get a $50 voucher…

  • Hi, does this promotion apply for every account? I did not receive any emails about this.

Good luck getting your payment from PayPal! Unless you are a professional seller, they are allowed to "hold your fund" for around 21 business days, EVEN IF you have 100% seller ratings. Was stumped when I found out AFTER having sold an item. I haven't used eBay since and that was over a year ago.

    • yes they hold it but if you ask them to release it early and put forward that you have a good reputation they will do it. i have had them release it for me 5 times because i needed the cash flow to buy more stock.

      • really? the person i talked to informed me she could only release my funds early ONCE and from then onwards, it will not be possible (which is the main reason I stopped selling on eBay). I only ever sold my unsed items ever so often so now i just go with gumtree, which is ironically owned by eBay lol

  • Not sure whether this thread is dead or not, but has anyone received a voucher yet from these seller promos? I'm expecting a $75 voucher for selling over $300 value but haven't seen anything regarding it since.
