I ride to work everyday and if I didn't already own an Ortlieb Waterproof backpack ($130) I'd definitely purchase one of these. It even has additional features that the Ortlieb doesn't have, such as:

• Reflective stripes
• Buckle (Ortlieb is only has a velcro equivalent which isn't as good)
• Hanging loops (Ortlieb has only a small hook)

  Has good reviews on the ALDI UK website.
  I like the purge valve.
  The only complaints on the UK store reviews is that there is no waist strap and the chest strap is too short when full. So better for cycling rather than hiking or canyoning

    Thanks for extra research! I never usually need to use the waist strap and I think the only times I have used it are hiking in the Austrian Alps and mounting biking :-D

    Not hard to rig a stabilising waist belt to a pack like this, it just wouldn't be for transferring load from the shoulders. If it's all made well, this pack is good value. Handy for kayaking too.

      That was my thinking too. Can also make the chest strap longer myself

    Thanks for pointing that out! Have added although not too sure anyone takes Aldi brand names seriously.
