  • Thanks just purchased. Absolute bargain. Ive had my one since 2011ish and is a bit grubby. I remember when these were around $260 when they first came out.

I got mine hot for $40 lol. This is a good deal! They're a good toaster.

      I got mine hot

      being a toaster & all

  • I have this, great toaster. Just ordered one for my parents too. $12.xx shipping to 4213 (Gold Coast).

  • So it looks to be because of the colour they're discounted, obviously the bright white colour isnt appealing to people.

I wonder if the outside is still metal or plastic? My one is metal.

    • Pretty sure its plastic - but the white isnt just plain old white plastic like a $10 one at Kmart - its smooth white pearl with sparkly bits in it (oh, I sound like an interior designer.. :/ )
Its like metallic paint on cars - looks quite premium.

  • Bought one. Only 3 left. Thanks OP.

  • $13.94 shipping for me (2460 post code)

  • Does this cook quickly? I have a toaster that takes almost 3 minutes to toast, but my parents only takes about a minute… Not sure if this means I need a new one or it is the power or watts or something else..?

    • +1

I have not timed it, but I think it takes around a 1 minute per setting number (I read somewhere most toasters work that way).

So my wife has hers on around 1.5 while I have mine around 3 and Id say mine takes around 3 mins.
The LED lights count down, so you can see when its almost done, and there is a "lift and look" button to check the toast, as well as "a bit more" button to cook for 30 seconds longer.

Maybe your parents have an unusually fast toaster. Or they like a light setting?

      • I think it's a Russell Hobbs, but they bought it particularly for the fast cooking. Thanks for the report on this one, that helps!

        • Some toasters have heat settings. This breville doesnt it just has the one heat setting and the slider on the bottom controls the time. I generally use the 3 setting meaning 3 mins. Some people dont like any brown on the toast though so may only want the 2 setting etc.

Reviews seem fairly mixed :-( Breville Smart Toast Reviews

    • +1

Yup, reason I held off buying one at the Dick Smith sales - far too many complaints that the catch mechanism that holds the toast down fails very quickly.

      • We've had one for at least 5 years and it still works exactly the same as when we got it. So it depends if you're unlucky

    • Keep in mind 90% of reviews on the PR website are made by the 5% of people who experience faults.

The other 95% happy owners generally don't bother to leave reviews.

This skews the results BIG time.

A 2 year warranty protects you well past "very quickly".

      • These toasters are by far the best on the market. The only downfall is the channels at the bottom for the crumbs to fall into the removable crumb trays isnt quite wide enough, so you need to try and clean that manually or it will build up over years. A kebab skewer works great.

I got mine today and its rather sexy.. It has green glitter in the white paint.

Can confirm these are metal not plastic on the outside.
