Price needs to go in title.

Also, this will be a hard sell, with a Sapphire AMD RX 480 8G Video Card being sold for $237

Placeholder price. 8Gb card is $249 USD at best. Obviously would not be $237 aud.

I can 100% confirm that the RX 480 8GB price isnt going to be $237

      • +1

        199 USD MSRRP,

        converted to $268AUD.

        Plus GST

        294
        plus freight

        320,

        plus aussie tax (20%)

        $384
        plus hype tax (20%)

        = $460

is my call on the RX480 australian pricing.

      • No GST if bought from overseas such as Newegg/Amazon. Also no "aussie tax" either… whatever the hell that is

I have seen a few reports that A03 is not very reputable. They will advertise a very low price to show up in staticice, then when you send the money, they will delay shipment until you pony up more. Buyer beware and if the price looks too good to be true, it is (most of the time)

Early benchmarks for the 480 aren't that flash hot: http://videocardz.com/61512/first-radeon-rx-480-gaming-bench…

      • but CrossFire with 2 RX480 beats GTX 1080 for gaming, except VR

        • +3

I guess, but do you really want to mess with Crossfire/SLI? Too many issues IMHO.

        • @MissKitty: price is very competitive too with AMD RX480,the 8GB version is only around $240US while GTX 1080 8GB easily over $1000AUD

        The comment says

"Here in Poland CD-Action is not any kind of respectable hardware reviewer, this is gaming magazine. Also those charts are containing many mistakes, like 380X performing better than overclocked 970 is some cases. Overall not very reliable reviewer who also made a lot of mistakes in this particular test. Just wait until tomorrow or for leaks from some actual hardware reviewers, not randoms. "

So I think this benchmark is not reliable.

I will wait until LinusTechTips does a test and see.

    • I would like to buy 2x rx 480 for $237 each.

  • On the day of the RX480 release. Interdasting…

    • edit: I get this is a good deal, just a bad day for it when US webstores put up the newer card

  • is this worth upgrading from an 7970 ?

    • No. Performance is near identical. http://www.techspot.com/review/1093-amd-radeon-380x/

      3DMark GPU Score:

      R9 380x
      3DMark GPU Score:
      13300

Verdict: not really a big upgrade overall.

But you do get 4GB of VRAm as opposed to just 3GB, and this helps in scenarios where FSAA and high-resolution textures are used.

      But would I upgrade? Nope.

is this card much better than my Sapphire 280X 4GB OC

        • 3DMark GPU Score:
          10930

          Nope.

  • mwave, do you have the same make but the 390X???

  • it appears its on par with a GTX 970 which is 400bux. so if its close to or more than that its a let down.

  • Looks like it's time to upgrade my GTX560 Ti..
