Any suggestions for where to get good value Men's Dress/Work socks?

Happy EOFY to you all! :)

Just wondering whether anyone could offer suggestions about where to get decent quality Men's Dress / Work socks? I'd been buying multi-packs from Costco: "Pringle" brand/label, which I'd never heard of before, but decided to give it a try as it worked out to ~$2.50 a pair. So, they were ok quality but that line has since been discontinued at Costco. I then tried some massive 20-pack from H&M which were also around the $2.50-$2.90 per pair mark, but they were fairly crap.

<rant> On a side note, why do they make socks in just the one size to fit sizes 6-12 — is it just me or is that insane? It's pretty annoying having the sock-heel ride up around your ankle bone… </rant>

Looking forward to hearing from the community. Never know, TA might even negotiate a deal for all of us, code: SOCKARSE.

Do they have the long length black Puma sports socks at your Costco? That's what I use, they are awesome.

    • Thanks for your response. I'm fairly sure they do, although I'm a bit wary about wearing sports socks in formal shoes. Has that worked for you?

Sure has. Wear them everyday with my RM's. They look exactly the same as business socks, length is the same too with extra cushioning. $14 for 6 pairs from memory.

        • Thanks. Sounds like a good deal to me. :)

I thought I was only one wearing black sport socks for work. Agree they are more cushioning and warmer during winter. I find they also slip less if u wear leather lining and breathes better.

I wear Uniqlo. Not particuarly thick but they last a long time. Been wearing the same pairs on a 5 day rotation for over a year now.

    • Thanks! Had not considered uniqlo at all - they seemed way overpriced for most other things. Might give that a try as well.

Yeah I have purchased all mine whilst on holidays in Japan where I think their stores are cheaper.

        • I second Uniqlo. They are more expensive but last heaps longer and they keep their elasticity. I've bought ones from Costco but they don't compare to Uniqlo ones.

Not sure what you mean by Dress/Work socks. It sounds like a contradiction to me. How about Bonds Explorer socks? They are really expensive but are warm and last a long time. I've seen a 3 pack of Explorer socks sell at $35. I managed to find a couple of single packs for $10 each at Target recently.

Rivers also seem to have good black socks and there are other colours available as well. I think they are around $3 per pair.

    • The issue I have with explorer socks as someone who wears steel cap boots everyday is that they take so long to dry. I don't not have a dryer at home and explorer socks seem to never dry in winter.

The best socks I find for work boots are kathmandu ones in the packs.

Have you tried Bamboo socks? Not cheap, but great if you're on your feet all day.

    • Not cheap is right - $13 / pair. Maybe when I have some disposable income :)

Just in case you are still searching, HoleProof socks are half-priced ($6.95) right now at Woolworths.

    • Thanks mate - will take a look-see.
