Which is what many of my local Subway stores (VIC Northern Suburbs) will 'conveniently' say; "Oh, we're not aware of this offer. No, we wont be running it."

Yeah agreed, but this 'Oh, we didn't know' is often complete BS and reinforces the view that there is a huge amount of resentment and lack of synergy between franchisee and franchisor. Subway never sees my money. Franchises suck, but If I was to start a franchise, the 2nd LAST on my list would be Subway, closely followed by 7-11.
Being forced to do some promotions a few times a year puts it next to 7/11? A friend of mine is a subway franchisee and its going great for him.
@Truthbe: going great for him maybe, but there'd be a few hundred people out there who have been fleeced with their franchisors promising the world and delivering nothing but paper thin ROI.
I'm not a fan of franchising either, but 7/11 is definitely on a whole different level of messed up.
The whole franchise system is a scam nowadays. Head Office own the whole supply chain. You have to buy everything from them and they charge for retail. Then you have to pay marketing fees, franchise fees etc. Head Offices are now making franchisees sign up to certain telco and electricity suppliers cause they get a cut.
Good luck getting any ACT stores to honor this deal :(.
I reckon half the time HQ puts out these things to get people to the store, and then when denied I reckon more than half of these people still buy it at full price because they couldnt be bothered going elsewhere.
