Sounds good - but here's a little hint:
Blocking my view of your site with a non-deletable demand for my Post Code before I have a chance to view your offering, and taking me to a site that comes across as demanding my personal details if I have not selected one in the delivery area [presumably matching a similar "in your face" page if it did] isn't the way to suggest to me you have the concept of politeness, tact or the true balance between the customer with the jingling cash and the merchant with the teetering ledger quite worked out yet.
To me, it is akin to sitting in your doorway, and demanding to sight identification or proof of worthiness before allowing visitors to do more than peek through your doorway to gather a glimpse of the goodies concealed behind the walls and heavy shutters.
It may well work for you, but just putting it up there mate.

      Hey Terry,

Yeah all valid points mates. We're actually in a bit of a pickle at the moment where we're busy redesigning our website / mobile app to try fix this. We actually realised this quite early on and have flagged it to be fixed. Personal note though I think it's a little of a no win situation with this because we're a startup and we don't deliver to all of Melbourne so before when we didn't have it we had people complaining that they got all the way to the checkout then they found out that we couldn't deliver to them. So we opted to do it as the first step in the journey (so we don't waste peoples time).

I wish there was a way to do both without making it annoying and we've got a few ideas (e.g. have it on a sidebar) so it doesn't directly disrupt people but at this stage I've got two things on my mind, more postcodes and better deals! =D

      Cheers,

      ST

      • P.S - Sub-note… it would be GREAT if Ozbargains could add in like an address field or something at the moment we say MELB ONLY but that's too broad for us. We deliver to 125 suburbs (and expanding) but to say all of Melb is probably not right…so any mods reading this… pretty please add this feature =)

        • Do you list the suburbs on your website or provide a map?

OzBargain won't change. Just put Melbourne* in title and provide clarification in the OP.

Hey @sween64: sorry completely forgot to reply to this. Yeah we do - https://tipple.com.au/about-us.html in the "Where do we Deliver Section"

          Sorry for the late response.

      • Thanks for taking it how is was meant - it's a great looking product, but the box not going anywhere if the code is outside the zone [edit, "3XXX zone"] is the frustrating part:-/ I'm no guru, but could the loop back to code entry under that condition be trivially switch to a "thank you for interest" and just present the page for possible visitors?

      I disagree.

I put my postcode in and it immediately told me it wasn't available to me.
I'd be quite annoyed if I went all the way through to the checkout, got off the couch to find my credit card and to be told 'oops. We don't service your area! lol'

      • I get " invalid code. please select from the suggestions". You may be putting in a Victoria code, I was wanting to view the offering and assess the store for the option of having it in the list for usage when over there…

        • +1

Yeah which is why we thought to actually put it on the side bar or top nav something like what Deliveroo / Menulog have were it's like almost an autocomplete suburb / postcode but damn that stuff is hard to do and also it uses geo-location for mobile..and I'm kinda not a huge fan of that… (story for another time)

See… like I said it's not really a win-win situation always will annoy someone..

At that price I was expecting to see long necks. $4 a beer is bit steep, prefer Dan's 6 for $10.

What you're comparing is chalk and cheese - these are craft Pale Ales not Coronas or "Steamrail" ales. Feral Hop Hog rated #2 in the Hottest 100 Craft Beers Australia 2015.

    • One reason I went to the site was to check for a bit of Coles/Woolworths astroturfing but there was narry a skerrick as they say. You're comparing West End to Coopers…

      • ……Am I the only one that didn't understand a word of that? ….

        • Probably - there are several million English speakers who wouldn't have had much trouble.

        • @terrys: LOL I only speak Australian…

Nah but seriously what does 'narry a Skerrick' mean?

        • +1

          @Sam Tea:
"Not a bit" as in " not in the slightest"." I was pointing out to the poster complaining about your prices that the product was exactly what was claimed, aa quality beer from a micro-brewer not a marketing name from one of the major chains,

  • There was a similar start-up on Shark Tank a couple of weeks ago. Not within 60 minutes but delivers to your office in time for after work drinks.

    • Yeah saw these guys as well. Only in Sydney though and really only beers. We have Beer, Wines and Spirits also we stock some smaller craft suppliers like Murray's which a lot of these guys can't do because they can't buy the volume. This was one of the challenges we had but happy to say we're slowly getting over it =)
