Optus Online Only Offer. $40 Per Month. 10 Gig Data. Up to 300 Min International Talk to Selected Countries Plus EPL. 12mths

1530

Hi guys,

I have checked to make sure this isnt a dupe. If so, apologies and please delete.

Seems that Optus are running this fantastic offer again.

$40 per month, you get 10 gig of data, unlimited calls, upto 300 selected international minutes and EPL. Usual stuff for international SMS / MMS to selected countires also.

Seems this is for new and recontracting services…which is good as previously has been for new customers only.

Obviously, check coverage in area before you decide if this is right for you or not.

I have excellent Optus coverage in my area and, since they have activated VOLTE, has been even better.

Thanks!!!

  • Aldimobile needs to do more to gain my business.

  • So does streaming the EPL use up the data or is it not capped?

Also are there any plans to improve their 4g network considering many complain of congestion already and this will only make it worse.

    • +1

EPL streaming does not use up data.

  • any chance spotify free streaming is included in this deal?

  • Signed up last night but for porting my number it only asked for my existing number not my account number or anything.

    Hopefully this goes smoothly.

  • May be a silly question, but when I click the link all I see is 8 GB data (including 2 GB bonus data).

Is this 8+2 or 8 inclusive of 2?

I signed up to this very plan just a week and a half ago and the included data was 8 GB which included 2 GB bonus (i.e., 6 GB without the bonus data).

Just wanting clarification because if it's indeed 10 GB, I'll be having a word with Optus.

There were two deals going around for the same price. One 8GB and the other 10GB.
If you spoke on the phone, they'll most likely offer the 8GB total data, not the 10GB.

      • EDIT - never mind, seems it's only coming up with the uni/student offer.

I managed to get onto the 10GB plan with unidays discount. But their documentation is confusing. First they showed 8GB in some places instead of 10GB. Then they notified me that the plan was $36. Then they sent me my contract stating that it was $40. Had to get on chat support multiple times to clarify, although they were very helpful once I got a hold of them.

      • Looks like they're advertising 10 GB for the regular plan now as well.

I'll have a go at chat and see what I can do.

I recently switched my internet provider to Optus. To my horror, they canceled my previous connection without informing me and left me stranded without internet for a week because they can't get a technician down to do it. If Optus cant even schedule a technician to me on time, then they shouldn't even cancel my previous internet connection. I called them since 2pm yesterday and till 10pm I was still on the phone with them and problem is not even solved. I've been transferred to several departments and non of them can help. Every time i call in, I have to wait over the phone for more than 1 hr before a technician picks up the phone.

FYI, my internet is not up yet.

      This is really frustrating.

  • has anyone been able to change from an existing my plan plus to the sim only one? Optus isn't playing ball with me

    • if you are out of contract, convert to prepaid and then back to this sim only plan.

      • oh nah i thought optus were letting people switch/upgrade mid contract

Signed up for this with the Uni offer on Monday, ported number over from virgin yesterday and set up a $5 data share sim for my ipad mini. Went from spending over $100pm to $36pm for both devices. Really pleased. Thanks for posting @dud

    • dude how do you get a data share sim ? can it use the whole 10G per month if you wanted ? cheers.

    • I would also like to know this, because I am thinking about getting an iPad with cellular.

    • How do you get $36 PER MONTH, isn't it $40

    • I got the plan for $36 p/m as I have a unidays account. You can sign up if you have a uni or tafe email address and will get a unique code for 10% off Optus.

For the data share SIM, I collected a blank sim card from an Optus store and called the activations number on the pack, requested to speak to an operator and they set it up for me over the phone, for a fee of $5 once off.

  • I just joined the 12month $40 8GB plan via optus shop. Can I change to this online offer without incurring penalty?

  • Did anyone find out if data used by fetch (if i tether my phone to fetch) for epl will count toward phones data limit?

    • Fetch TV states that it should only be used with fixed lines, so I assume that means that the data will be metered if you use it with a hotspot.

      • +1

        Thanks. Also found this:

Yes TV by Fetch Mini: Yes TV by Fetch Mini requires an active fixed broadband Internet connection and a download speed of at least 3Mbps, a widescreen TV and an external antenna connection. Data charges will apply from your internet service provider. You cannot use your mobile data to watch content from the Yes TV by Fetch Mini. If mobile service is cancelled Yes TV by Fetch Mini service will also be cancelled. If the Yes TV by Fetch Mini service is cancelled you must return the device to Optus or charges will apply.

  • I can only find $40 plan with 8GB data inc. 2GB bonus data on their website now.

  • Does anyone know if you can stream EPL online with this offer, so on your TV let's say?

  • How exactly do we apply the student discount? I tried putting in my code but I keep getting a error message

  • Be warned — if you are on an existing broadband bundle they won't give you a $20 discount.

I signed up a month ago and didn't get my discount despite having Optus Cable since January. They eventually told me that I haven't received the discount because it only applies to new broadband bundles.

They offered to change my cable to a new contract so that I could get the $20 discount but I told them to get stuffed. She also offered to give me a $10 discount on my existing deal but I am holding firm.

I advised them that the "Nitty Gritty" does not mention this and they told me that they hoped I "understood" that this was the case. She couldn't answer where it told me this through the ordering process and instead directed me to a broadband page. I eventually persuaded them to put me through to their next level of complaints / support and they told me that I will receive a call within 10 days. Seriously?

    Nitty Gritty..

$20 bundle discount: We will email you about this bundle discount when your mobile service is activated. One $20 monthly discount applies per eligible broadband post-paid mobile bundle. If you cease your eligible mobile plan the $20 bundle discount will be removed without notice. Not available in conjunction with any other bundle discount offer. For existing customers any existing bundle discounts including the $10 mobile discount will be removed when taking up this offer. The broadband and mobile services must be in the same name and same billing address to be eligible for the $20 bundle discount. Home Wireless Broadband services are not eligible for the $20 bundle discount.

    • I just signed up and I have it in writing via webchat from a rep I would get the $20 discount so if it doesnt apply I will bring down hellfire on their heads!

I too have heard that it only applies to "new" broadband bundles but it says nothing about that in the T&C's

If I have learnt anything with optus if you make enough noise and dont back down you can get what you want, if you stick it out.

  • Does optics for carrier billing for play store on this plan?

  • does the data sharing sim also get free unmetered epl?

  • I have had two weeks of nightmares and inconsistencies dealing with Optus staff in getting the $5 data share SIM activated. 1st person said they could do it. didn't work so the 2nd person said that they could do it, didn't work so told to go to Optus shop and get Postpaid SIM (rather than the prepaid SIM which wouldn't work), then finally the 3rd Optus person said it can no longer be done. Grrr, time to leave Optus and get back onto my old Vaya plan.
