All OPPO F1 Users - Project Spectrum Beta (Android M Update) Is Now Available to Try for Yourself

Hey all users of the awesome-value Oppo F1 :)

If you don't already know, the official Android M update (albeit still in beta) is now available to try. It fixes pretty much all my gripes with the previous ColorOS operating system and seems to run really well so far…

You'll have to completely wipe your phone to install, but for me it was totally worthwhile.

  • Why won't they release Spectrum for the Mirror 5S :(

  • Does this work with the Optus variant? If so, does it fix the band 28 issue?

    • Band 28 issue?
This was one reason I was going to buy this phone, for band28 support….. What's the issue?

    • Yes it is currently running on my Optus F1.

I don't know about the band 28 issue - if you let me know how, I can check for you…

      • I don't have this phone but I was looking at it a while ago, apparently the Optus version says it supports band 28 but wasn't enabled by default. You had to enable it in a service menu every time the phone was restarted.

  • Hi thanks for the post, do you know if this would fix notification issue with WhatsApp? Currently I do receive new message notifications unless I actually open app. Thanks

    • +1

It has fixed all my issues with notification, so: maybe yes?
I also had huge issues with apps not being able to auto-start (timed silent, timed recording with TuneIn Radio etc) all of which seem to be fixed now.

The update seems to be very close to vanilla Android M (in fact I can't see any changes that Oppo has made)
