Switching from Amaysim to ALDI Mobile

Hello friends.

I am thinking about switching my wife's postpaid mobile phone from Amaysim over to Aldi. Details are:

  • With Amaysim she currently pays $29.90/28 days for unlimited talk and text with 3GB data, uses the Optus network.
  • With Aldi she will pay $25.00/30 days for unlimited talk and text with 2GB of data, uses the Telstra network.

Aside from losing 1GB of data (not an issue for her), I am hoping to find better value AND coverage by making this switch.

Any experience or advice one way or the other would be appreciated. It's an iPhone 6, owned outright, FWIW.

Thanks!

    just do it.

You already know the value is better, so if coverage is not better with Aldi, port back to Amaysim next month.

    (Amaysim is prepaid, not postpaid.)

  • Check network. If telstra is not good around your place then it's not worth to move.

Currently on Aldi Mobile and have been for about 2 years

Can't say I've had a single coverage issue or any other problem really.

    Couldn't be happier on Aldi

    • So when Telstra signal shut down a few times this year, Aldi wasn't affected?

      • I can't say that I noticed anything during that time, but I am not on my phone 24/7 so I can't say for sure

  • All good points.
Telstra coverage is on-par with Optus at my place, it's more for when we are out and about and there's poor coverage.
Reckon I'll give Aldi a go.

  • Recently switched from Vaya (Optus) to Aldi (Telstra). Price only slightly more but definitely better coverage on the Telstra network. I'm n the Sydney metro area. CBD not a lot of difference but in outer suburbs the Telstra coverage is much more consistent.

    • Exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thanks.
      I'm in the ACT.

      • I have family in ACT and I use Aldi with no issues when I have stayed there and been over that way recently. I like their plans, was with TPG and changed to payg as works better for me :)

  • Do it.

I went Amaysim to Aldi myself and the coverage via Telstra is much better where I live and work.

The Aldi android app is crap compared to the Amaysim app tho. Keeps crashing and doesn't update usage as frequently.

  • If you are travelling outside of the cities you need something on the Telstra network.

  • Depending on your usage Woolworths Mobile may be better value.

Woolworths Mobile $30 plan has unlimited calls and more included data + data rollover. Only $27 if you recharge with Woolworths Rewards card. Aldi Mobile $25 plan doesn't include any international calls or text whereas Woolworths does.

  • Might be a phone issue for me but after porting calls kept going straight to my voicemail. Whenever someone called me it didnt even ring once. When I found this out, i tested and discovered that if I made two calls back to back, the second one would come through properly. Called Aldi and their support was completely useless. Googled around for ages and ported it back to Amaysim. The phone was a lenovo S60
