JB Hi-Fi Return and Pricing Matching Question (Solved Already, Thanks a lot friends)

Hello friends,

I have got a JB Hifi return or refund question needs your help.

I used to think that price in JB was reasonable, so I bought a 'On Sale' 16G iPad air 1 and used it. But six days later, I found the same item in Office Works website with around $70 cheaper. Since $70 is a lot money to me, can I ask JB Hifi for a partial price matching by taking Office Works' price there? Do you think a refund would be more applicable than price matching?

Look forward to your kind help and thanks a lot!

Already solved friends:
I went to the JB again and staff there were kind to help me. Then I tried to negotiate with the store manager and explained my case. I told him that I have been a loyal costumer to JB and I was glad to give him my credit card for purchase history. He listened to my issue patiently. It took him a short while to reach the final decision and I was given store credit with the amount of price gap.
As a tech costumer who didn't do beforehand research, I am blessed to solve this issue finally with all your help and that store manager's kindness. Next time I will do enough research before shopping. Thanks again to all of you and wish you all the best.

Sorry but as far as I can see, you're SOOL.

    • You can't return it for no reason.
    • You won't be able to get the $70 back because a competitor has a sale a week after you bought it.

Put it down to buyers remorse and move on

misled why ? and how ?
and is this product not end of line / no stock anywhere sort of thing ? you cant buy it online from office-works and jb does not list it.

          Thanks Settero for your help.

The one I bough was the last one in store with label 'clearance' (or something else sorry can't remember clearly), so I believed the price listed was 'reasonable' but turned out to be $70 expensive than Officeworks which even don't have 'sale' or 'clearance' labbled. But all in all, it was my negligence when I did shopping from JB.

          @JamesDW:

Just because it was on 'clearance' doesn't mean it will always be the cheapest in town!

Next time it pays to shop around :)

        • @JamesDW:

but does officeworks even have stock ?

you will be very very lucky if jb does help you, you are asking alot for a clearance item , and the fact that it does not have any sale/clearance signs means nothing since they can not advertise a item they have no stock of.

you can try ask JB to refund you but if they say no then just forget it.
    take as a lesson.
next time when you want to buy something, just wait until you get the cheapest price. maybe need to wait forever though, because price is always going down.

oh, and get android. its cheaper than apples

    • Thanks eisniwre for your help and kind advice, I will have a try tomorrow and be more careful in future shopping👍🏻

Need evidence of item with lower price from shop
The price gap gonna be at least $75
          Claim in 21 days

C'mon OP. Will the store charge your card for more money a week after should the iPad return to normal price? You're like the other guy who wants to buy an item, get the freebie, then return the item in the hope of keeping the freebie.

This is why one should never check around the price after you bought an item. Enjoy your iPad and move on.

    • Thanks downers for your advice, I have learnt a lot from this lesson :) And the iPad is really beautiful :D

James I think you could have worked this one out for yourself. Imagine yourself in JB HiFi position. You advertise the computer for sale and a buyer purchases the computer. A week later the purchaser bring it back and wants a refund because he can buy it cheaper elsewhere. How would you feel about the issue and what would you do.

I will give you a tip with buying technology, "it will always be cheaper tomorrow". How long do you want to hold off before buying. When the price stops falling it will be obsolete and you will want the next model and so the process goes on.

    • Thanks jhmtaylor for your help. I do lack experiences in IT shopping, next time I will do enough research before purchasing. Very precious lesson for this shopping experience.

  • Never compare prices after you have bought something.

    • Rule of thumb, thanks a lot onetwothree!

  • Since your iPad is now second hand it is now worth $70 less than you paid for it, so JB could refund you $70 less than you paid?

    • Next time I will do careful research before shopping, thanks for your reply bongom :)
