  • Your other deal from TA to Rome is cheaper , it is like $20 Euro on high speed train to Venice and you can stop at Florence

      Hi,

Have you found some cheaper prices?

The deal to Rome has the prices
      Perth $884, Melb $1042, Bris $1059, Adel $1061, Syd $1066
      this has
      Perth $841, Melb $1034, Bris $1034, Adel $1038, Syd $1050
which is about $20 - $40 cheaper than the Rome deal.

I'm happy to update the Rome deal (on IWTF) if you have found cheaper prices.

Sorry my bad was looking at Perth prices for Melbourne
Also there was a 10% code seems like that may have expired
But they are really good fares

    • +1

I paid 40 EURO for the train ride from florence to venice last year…

It varies by train and by how far in advance you booked/how busy it is.

Many rail networks in Europe are priced according to demand like the airlines.

        • Yeah it is like airfare, like when you don't need them say MEL-ADL - $9 bucks, when you need them it is like >99

      • I did buy them a night before and showed them on my mobile.
        It was in Nov 2013

Looking at Italia Rail now, for December for friend, it is AUD 31 and slower one's are much cheaper around half the price

I'm writing this from my Airbnb in Rome - having just done that train trip on Tuesday (Venice to Rome).

Tickets certainly are not 20 euro (maybe they were - not now).

There are two trains that run this journey
      1. The frecciargento - which is the old bullet train. Standard tickets around 40 euro. First class is around 60
      2. The frecciarossa - has four classes. Standard starts around 40 euro. Premium economy is about 50. Business (which is what I went on) was about 55. First class is more expensive again. I was travelling with my wife and 4 month old - went business because of the huge seats. They were very very comfy and leather. Well worth it

There are far slower regional trains that might be cheaper, which may let you see more of the country - but the frecciarossa gets there quick (travels at 300km/h) and was awesome!

      • Try Italotreno, Trenitalia's competitor. I bought tickets from Venice to Florence for 18 euros. Purchased the tix 2 months in advance on their website. Paypal accepted. Trains were very new and comfortable and also with speeds up to 300km/hr. Total travel time was 2hr 5 mins. Very convenient - no need to print tickets. Just show your booking number to the inspector on board.

  • Hi IWTF,

Do you have any deals to Japan early October? Great work by you so far btw!

    Cheers.

  • Awesome prices! Although I'm looking for the opposite direction.. :/

  • -deleted-duplicated.

  • don't forget flybuys points

  • Those Perth prices are not with just Etihad though… It's a mix of airlines. Or are they code-shared?

    • +1

I clicked through to the supplier sites for a few. It seems that they are codeshare with Alitalia for the Abu Dhabi to Venice leg. So they are sold as Etihad, but operated by Alitalia (for the final leg). I'll make a note of this in the OP.

      • Alitalia has a bit of history, including several near bankruptcies. They have cancelled many routes lately.
I would not book any flights with them for 3/4 year into the future.

        • +1

Etihad now owns half of Alitalia

        • @erd: 49%. It might be alright, but I would be cautious myself.

Great work op. Keep these amazing deals coming.

  • These are crazy good deals.
Iv had a good look but haven't seen anything that stands out yet for Athens. Anyone seen any good return flights for May to Greece? Me and the missus want to do santorini for the honey moon. Would be so greatful if someone could find a bargain for us

  • I'm looking for these routes for October 2017…these prices are so good!!

  • Was hoping there was a departure date in December (Melb > Venice D:12.12.16 return 22.12.16) - great deal all the same.

  • I would like to use the date grid at the top to search for flights, but searching for April flights the box is just full of the word 'search' and not actual prices… how do I populate prices in the grid instead of searching day by day?

    • +1

      Hi Lainey13,

The saarch grid is populated when people search those dates. This works really well for popular routes (eg domestic, SE Asia) but is sparse for uncommon routes like Venice. The more you search, the more populated the date grid will become.

Book via Etihad direct through this link and get x20 flybuys points.

    • Same price?
Good deal then it would seem….

  • +1

Alitalia - Will never fly with these guys & would recommended avoiding. They are notorious for loosing baggage… (google it). Last year they lost ours on way from Berlin to Milan - support staff where absolutely useless & were not interested in helping.. The cheap price is not worth the risk.

  • +2

    thanks, booked flights. wooo! :D

  • Some of these minimum dates are too long for me personally - but they work well for others. Like I'd like to go and come back in about 7 days, spend 5 days there and be done - just for a quick getaway.

I suppose thats super impractical when you factor in travel time :)

    • Hi jubbing,

We just gave sample dates that we thought would appeal to most people. There are lots of other dates available. Just enter a search for the dates you want.

  • When do we have to book by?
