Upgrade from G4, to what?

Have LG G4, I Love it…..
Although, it is my first real smart phone above the cheapy woolies phones I've always had.
Seems bootloop is a possible issue, but, coming into a year old, looking to upgrade.

I know I don't fully utilise all the feature of the G4, but what I do use, I want to keep.
In no particular order, replacement must have, (and what I like about the G4)

Awesome camera.Inc decent front camera
Great screen. And size.
Ability for sms to open on main screen at same time.
Split screen.
Customization of set up and buttons etc.
Fast with no lag
4G
Expandable memory.
Ability to take photo without unlocking phone.
Easy tap buttons, ie, to instantly take photo.
Android.
Wireless charging.
Under $450

I'm sure there a few other must have features I enjoy, which are likely to be on newer phones.

So, what options and recommendations please.

Thanks in advance.

I've got one and if I was to upgrade it will be for better similar specs and bigger screen. Heard the V20 is in route so will suss it out when released in two months time.

The solution is easy: G4. I have one too, and see no reason to upgrade.

    • The bootloop issue is scary…….

      • Is it broken? In bootloop?

        • Not yet, but seems alot others on here that bought the G4 at same time from same QD seller have had it happen, some have said also very recently……

Love my G4. Really hoping it keeps going ……

        • @albanyson: Who's QD seller are you referring to? I bought from Kogan and it's going well so far. I hope it continues so. :)

          @virhlpool: http://stores.ebay.com.au/QD-Shopping-Centre/Home.html

Quality Deals Australia. Grey import seller on eBay. Many of us bought the G4 from them as their prices were very sharp during various eBay % off sales.

      Same here Camel.
I have a G4 and am very happy with it. I see absolutely no reason to upgrade.
I hear people banging on about bootloop but mine is still going fine with no problems after nearly a year.
I won't be upgrading unless/until I have a real reason to do so.

      • Very happy with my G4. As long as it keeps running and doesn't get this bootloop that seems to be very common.

Would be hard to find a smartphone with all those features sub $450, atleast brand new.
I would recommend OnePlus 2 but it doesn't come with expandable memory (64gb internal) or wireless charging.
With a current working G4 I wouldn't recommend spending the money.

    • Thanks. The G4 was my pick of phones at the time. An eBay discount code meant I got the phone for 450 from QD AU

Good price, hope the phone doesn't get bootloop and lasts you atleast another year :)

      • I bought it for $370 from Kogan during the deal.

        • Great price.
Must be really happy at that price.

  • I had LG G3 purchased 4 spare battery due to boot loop and now blue screen had to let it go after 27months of relationship. Just place an order for LG G5 $559 which seems to be a good price

    • Even G3 had a boot loop issue? Did it happen all of a sudden?

      • The G3 and Def the G4……not sure I'd gamble on a G5.

        • My G3 had boot loops, after 21months of use….. gone through 3 extra battery and finally a blue screen.
I'am quite happy with LG phones and took another gamble on it.

        • @OhMaJuck:
Really like my G4. Hoping I dont have to change anytime soon.
Another post on here I am following…..there a been a few new bootloop lately from G4s and OzB guys having to send back.

  • My 29/09/15 QD-AU bought LG G4 just developed the dreaded boot loop issue tonight.
It just froze and then got stuck on the LG logo screen.
Removing the battery and inserting it just opens immediately to the LG logo.
Have contacted QD-AU, now joining the queue of everyone else

Any info on factory resetting the phone (wipe personal details) befor sending it back?

    • I'm suddenly in the exact same boat over the past week or so. I think this thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/245953 is the one to use though.

On the topic of this thread though, I think this is enough for me to re-enter the phone market (less than 12 months after spending ~$450 on the G4).

No idea what to get or what to spend anymore, feeling a bit dejected about the situation

      • Feel your pain.

Im thinking a China Android, somewhere around a couple hundred.

Again, 500 on a phone the lasted 10months….

        Not good.

    • I ended up getting a full refund of $499 from kogan
Now to decide on what to get. LG V10 LG V20 LG G5
not a fan of Samsung or apple if not an LG maybe a SONY?

      • No such refunds QD-AU.
Ironically, I almost bought it from Kogan, had it in my cart, when I saw the deal from QD-AU and went with that one itself
I have heard a couple others getting refunds from Kogan.
I'm still waiting for rely from QD-AU. I did get a generic response from them, asking questions of which I had already given all the answers in my initial contact(to what they replied to) such as IMEI/not been wet/dropped my etc

        Still waiting again……..

I bought a Moto G4 plus to see me through, paid $345 from HN. After the LG G4, this is quite childish and amateur style phone and a bit like a toy, my daughter would like.

I grew quite attached to the LG G4 and dos everything I wanted from it. I'm an android fan, so Apple is off
Galaxy S7 is expensive, though I'm looking at the latest Optus deal, for the S7.
Its probably the unmetered Netflix thats more attractive.

I looked at the Sony XA, supposed to be water resistant? Looked stylish in a smaller phone.
        Price wise about $500

Apparently the LG G5 is also experiencing boot loop??

        • I had a lg g4, went in to bootloop and got refund from kogan.

Now got a moto g4 plus and really like it. It can do everything I need it to-do and think it runs fast enough for what I do. Great phone in my opinion.

        • @s4nju:
I set up Nova launcher pro on the Moto G4. It's kinda growing on me.

I do really miss m LG G4. In particular, my LG G4. With the missing photos, contacts, notes…….. Etc etc

        • Sony XA has battery problem

          Sony Xperia X $580 @ eBay
          Huawei P9 - a bit expensive atm.
Nexus 6P or wait for 2016 model.

        • @windwai:
The XA was a stylish looking phone…and the water proofing was noteworthy.

Anotehr option I looked at was the Huawei G8.
