Buying Lots of JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards and Using at The Counter

I know theres been a few post about this before, but i was wondering what the go is with buying JB hifi vouchers from woolies (using egift cards purchased through cashback rewards or entertainment book) and using them all at JB hifi is?

Im looking to buy a new macbook pro, ~$2500, so would need 25 $100 gift cards.

Anyone know if theres a limit on how many you can buy over the counter, or if you can even buy them using the egift voucher (i did buy $80 of playstation cards the other day using egift and it was fine)

Then, how are JB likely to react when they see me with 25 gift vouchers at the counter? haha

any tips would be appreciated :)

UPDATE - all done - the guy at woolies counter was a bit annoyed by the number of cards purchased (can only buy 5 cards per transaction), but the lady at JB was more than happy to put it through. No hassles, saved about an extra $100 on the 2k laptop :)

if they don't let get them in one hit just go back a few times.

It's a valid form of payment so I can't see why it would be a problem. The only thing I would suggest would be to notify the cashier so they can try and get another one on during that time.

Or go during a quiet time (when the store opens?)

Negotiate the final price on the MBP before you get to the Checkout and present the Vouchers or Gift Cards.

Ensure of course that the MBP is the one you want with sufficient RAM/SSD etc.

Consider at time of purchase if you want to buy AppleCare because sometimes they will do a bundle price (or a bundle with a case or other goodies).

If you have a Stack of Vouchers or Gift Cards, use the ones with the soonest expiry Date first.

Also, some JB HiFi have a threshhold of above 4 or 5 vouchers you may be asked for ID or Photo ID. Some fraud protection scheme apparantly.

Yeah that was the plan. Thanks for your tips, never been a fan of apple care, but will see what I can negotiate… Hopefully they do 10% off :)

At the Big W 10% off sale , I purchased $3800 worth of Jb Hifi gift cards and used it all at once with no questions asked.

    • Nice, cheers!

    • Do big w always include gift cards in sales? Looking to buy a new tv hopefully later this year. Extra 10% off negotiated price would be very handy.

      • They only permitted it for that one instance. All promotions after, excluded it in the terms and conditions to stop people doing exactly what I did :)

        • Ah fair enough. Is there anywhere that does a discount on jb vouchers?

  • I used 23 x $100 jb gift cards and it went fine. :)

  • A bit late now, but you can also order eGift vouchers from JB HI FI, using JB HI FI egift or physical gift cards as payment.

Convert 5 x $100 cards into 1 x $500 eGift voucher. Usually only takes a few hours to receive the new voucher in your inbox.

One interesting thing of note is that the JB checkout people don't need to scratch off the PINs on the back of the gift card. I was prepared to do it for them as they processed each one, but all they do is scan the barcode.
