I think "deal breaker" means something which makes the deal no longer desirable in the eyes of a potential customer.
You probably mean "showstopper" or something similar? :P

Anyways great deal! Might go to officeworks tomorrow to pick one up.

  • Wow $86!

  • Good deal for a mio. Grab one if you not good with tech stuff. If you are good with tech get a 5" from dealextreme for not a lot more.

If I buy one from DX, what should I do to make it working for AUS?

      • Just need Australian maps and software of your choice.

      • Read the product forum threads on DX. Heaps of Aussies there with all the details you need from how-to guides to everything else. It will take some reading, but you will learn on the way so you can maintain your GPS and push it to it's limits. The majority of Aussies use iGo8 on there GPS units and most the units on DX come with iGo8 so all it needs is a map file.

    • can you send a link to the5" you refer to? I had a look at that site and saw a few 5" models listed. Sounds interesting.

      • All down to what features / style etc you want. My choice would be one with 64Meg ram (needed for smooth text to speech) and also the newer Atlas IV CPU (VI is a miss print). sku.36389 is the one I would buy today if I wanted one. In the menu you can even tell it what path to run the GPS software from making it super easy to change it to something like the newest version of iGo8 running of a memory card. Some other feature you might want are AV in (reversing camera) and bluetooth that it does not have. sku.33738 is one of the most popular ones on DX with lots of features and with a lot of knowledge in the forum posts. Start reading there. Again this is not the path for a non tech head but very rewarding for those who decide to go down it.

    • I am also interested in which 5" do you recommend.
      The price there are amazing!
If I can get the Australia Maps to load, then it would be a uber sweet present for my uncle =)

  • Having a mio C330 since 3 years ago, a very good unit and I think it reacts much quicker than tomtom with roughly the same age.

  • I wonder how much they paid for the maps in this, considering iphone GPS applications are at least $70+

  • Bit OT - bought a Mio A430 for my dad the other day at Myer for $128 after 15% off (it's on clearance for $150 at the moment) - Myer sometimes has those 15% off all GPS sales, so watch out for those.

I personally preferred paying $42 more for the larger screen, but this seems like a good deal.

Like most (if not all) Mio devices, it is possible to hack / unlock them to run other Windows CE applications (using MioPocket). The ones from DX probably can be unlocked also (or maybe they are already unlocked).

You can run iGo8 on the Mio A350 if you are willing to do some reaserch online.. it can be time consuming though. You can run both MioMap (with Navteq map) and iGo8 (with Sensis map) and get the best of both worlds. You can run other GPS apps… and do other stuff (games, media player etc…)

    • Good advice for any Mio owners. I've been running MioPocket on my ageing C520 which let me use iGo-8 in NZ. There are tonnes of maps available for iGo-8 while MioMaps 3.2 is long outdated.

Not to mention you can then enable DivX playback with sound or use the 2.5mm headphone jack. Possibilities are unlimited after it's unlocked.

However, very time consuming (can't tell you how long it took me to get it working).. lot of fun in the end though.

  • Is this a better purchase than the Navig8r G35 that COTD etc are offering for $60 plus postage?
(EDIT: Not questioning the deal, I want to buy one or the other and am clueless about GPSs)

    • +2

Mio's are well built quality units with well supported software. I can't say the same for the G35. Brick and mortar stores to return the unit too is a plus in my books too.

  • I've bought from Dealextreme quite a few times before, though be warned you often get what you paid for from any chinese website. the stuff doesnt last long and to post stuff back insured is too expensive. It's just not worth it.

    • GPS units from DX will last as long as this Mio or a Navig8tor. There most likely made in the same factory with the same components. How it works is a company pays for lots of R&D on a product and then gets in manufactured in China. The Factory in China steals the idea and produces there own unbranded item. Same parts. Same factory. Units like Mio are great for people who are not up to loading there own software onto a GPS. DX is great for people who are tech heads ad can work out how to load there own software. Each to there own. I can get 2 5" GPS units from DX and have change from the price I would pay for one in Australia. Even if 1 breaks I am still ahead.

Agreed with covert. The GPS units from DX stack up well against the reputable brands especially in build quality. its not like other electronics on their site, they are actually very good quality. Obviously, some are duds but you can tell from the reviews easily.

  • Currently Harvey Norman have this for $149 @_@
Do they price match and beat OW?

  • +2

Hey I found a better price at this shop http://www.skycomp.com.au/product.aspx?id=197797
    ;)

    • Hahaha I wish them good luck in selling that range

  • Hi, how does this compare to Navigon 1300 please?

    • The 1300 is a better unit. I've owned both. The Mio software is the old navman software which runs slow. You can get the 1300 for $98 and for an extra $29 get 2yrs of map upgrades. Instead of paying 100+ per year for maps with the Mio.

      • Thanks a lot xbox_upgrades. Cheers, Mike

  • This is a great deal!! I reckon the Mio software was well designed. I spent $400+ on a Mio 520 3 years ago and absoulte happy about it. I would recommand this to anyone.

  • This deal or http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/24719
I'm still can't make my decision…is it worth to spend another $100 for 4.3" screen?

  • Got it! I'm happy so far but i would like to mention that it has only internal storage(no memory card slot)
