(ADVICE) Sydney Shopping Destination

Hi Ozbargainers,

We are planning on going to Sydney on the weekend to do business stuff and will have plenty of time on hand. I would like to hear from ya'll experienced bargain hunters

as to where I should go to go shopping. Was thinking DFO as I'm not familiar to other places where I can grab a bargain.

If you have ideas and/or tips driving around Sydney finding the best shopping place and to grab a bite along the way, that would be great!

First time here so please be nice. We are from WA.

Thanks in Advance!!

  • Have you been to Trade Secret before? I don't think you have them in Perth. Not that amazing but you can find some cheap stuff on clearance. I got some work shoes for $18 that were $120.

Otherwise I suspect most Ozbargainers find bargains wherever, including at Kmart and Target.

  • If you are staying in the CBD, Market City above Paddy's Market in China Town has some outlet stores. I have had good deals at Esprit and Converse shop but it is luck of the draw.
In any case, there are lots of good food options nearby so you could do worse than pay a visit.

  • Birkenhead point outlet centre, peters of Kensington, Victoria's basement, DFO, Macquarie shopping centre

    • +1

Since when was Macquarie a place for bargains? Mind you I haven't been there for a couple of years but it was always just a normal shopping centre.

      • Still a normal shopping centre

      • Yeah it's just a normal shopping centre, my wife does seem to like H&M Uniqlo Zara Gap forever 21.
I agree it's not for everyone especially people who don't like shopping/shopping centres and probably not full of bargains. It has an ice skating rink and is the biggest shopping centre in NSW which may or may not impress you

        • You can find all those stores in the city now plus TopShop; no need to go to North Ryde.

Plus Wikipedia doesn't say Macquarie Shopping Centre is the biggest in Sydney in terms of leasable area or number of stores. They're all Westfield Sydney or Bondi Junction or Parramatta. I like Macquarie Centre, but fact is the only trump cards Macquarie has is the ice rink and the fact you can go from level 1 to level 4 without using any stairs or escalators.

  • Jeez it can be brutal on oz bargain, don't go to Macquarie centre I spoke out of turn, it's horrible and and and its full of terrible irrelevant shops and restaurants. the m2 is lacking the car parking is dimly lit the trolleys have wonky wheels.
