  • Perfect for lunch. Cheers!

Just lunch? What happened to breakfast and dinner?

My kids even ask for these with a couple of fried eggs for dinner some nights! Also makes a brilliant omelette - cook up as usual, add two eggs and mix up, put into a pan and make brown/crispy. SOOOOOO GOOOOD!

      • Best part is adding bacon…. All jokes aside my life expectancy is probably shorter by at least 5 years due to how much I've eaten during VCE and Uni.

      • Ah yeah, the indomie pizza. Haven't had that for awhile.

Not even a hint of irony…

    • +22

True, but serve these with your choice of red meat of dark leafy greens and it should be quite irony.

  • I hate how these never go on sale at coles and woolies, yet are $2 every 2-3 weeks at IGA. Purposely gotta go to foodland once a month to stock up.

    • +1

They're not that great. The Aldi's $1 five packs are pretty decent.

      • I work night shift 2-3 nights a week (health system for you), so a packet and a can of tuna is normally my breaky. Seems like nicest supermarket noodles, maggie would be the worst. I really should try some of those 50 odd variety at Asian grocery stores

        • +4

To quote my uni friend = Only clueless gweilos eat Maggi

        • Korean 라면 Ramyeon is great. If you ever go to an Asian market and want Korean noodles, get one that says "Neoguri" in a dark red packet. It's fantastic. My personal favourite plain spicy noodle is 진라면. (Jin Ramyeon), yellow and red packet, quite cheap too in some areas.

        • I really should try some of those 50 odd variety at Asian grocery stores

          Those are the best.

        • @scrimshaw:

          Only clueless gweilos eat Maggi

I saw one of them make these mee goreng as if it was soup noodles (like Maggi)..

        • +2

Did they also break the noodle cake into tiny bits? And then eat noodle and soup with a spoon? That's how my dorm mate did it and all the Asians were like ewww wtf

        • @scrimshaw: Used a fork. But it was disgusting as hell. The "soup" was all black from the sweet soya sauce. Of course the gweilos don't add the spicy part.

go to asian grocers, they sell them at like 8 dollars per box

    • I see 5 packs for $2 quite a lot.

Watch the true OzBargainers scramble for 35c item!

    • the Millionaire Misanthrope somewhere is already planning this … buying boxes of Indomie and gleefully watching people tumble over 35c junk food.

  • Are these healthy for you? If you eat one 3 meals a day for 20 years?

    • +5

Egyptians used similar ingredients to embalm their mummies.

      1. Buy a cheap camera
      2. Eat Indomie 3 meals a day for 20 years
      3. Sell the movie rights
      4. Retire rich and early

      Do it

      • You forgot final step, die from bowel cancer or heart disease.

        • +2

          thats the "early" retirement part

    • ey b0ss, I habe a cancur

  • My kids even ask for these with a couple of fried eggs for dinner some nights

Glad to know they're getting a good dose of MSG

    • +2

      LD50: 15 grams per kg

Unless you're feeding kids about half a kilo of MSG, they'll be fine :)

The lowest reported dose for an "symptom complex" is 3grams in the absence of food, naturally most houses don't seem to carry pure msg, so the levels in food are perfectly fine. (And all of these studies are testing people who claim they're sensitive, hilariously some/most respond to the placebo.)

It's a little bit lower for some asthmatics (again pure MSG in the absence of food) -

"there may be a small number of unstable asthmatics who respond to doses of 1.5 – 2.5g of MSG in the absence of food."

I hope you were just referring to the benefits of MSG though?

glutamates are important neurotransmitters in the human brain, playing a key role in learning and memory, ongoing neurological studies indicate a need for further research.

  • You can buy these for about 14 cents.

    • Really? Haven't seen these that cheap before. Can you please tell us where in Melb? Thanks.

    The tastiest food on earth.

  • thank you OP.

    Ohh…. Mi Goreng.

    brings back so much memories.
it was my best friend, my stable and my savor during uni years.

even tried to experiment with it to make new things.

anyone every tried Mi Goreng Pizza ?

    • I've eaten it on a hot dog bum, with fried onions.

It's like Japanese yakisoba bun, but Indonesian.

      • +4

        hot dog bum

        Sounds delicious

        • Dammit SwiftKey

    • After I graduated I vowed to never eat these again! 5 years on and haven't touched.

My local Coles regularly has these for 50 cents.

  • For a healthier (eg less fake) version, go to an Asian grocery store and grab the following:
Vit's noodles (stack of 10, yellow pack)
    Pure sesame oil
    Chilli oil/sauce of your choice
Black caramel sauce (or cooking caramel, I use Cheong Chan, red bottle)

Boil the noodles and drain. Whack in dollops of the other stuff. Tastes amazing… Although the noodles have some weird things in it I can't find a pure noodle that is quite the same.

    • Instead of Vit Noodles, I find that it works just as well with thin pasta. Added bonus since it is product of Australia.

Uni students staple diet all summed up in one post lol!

I wanna know why the Coles free pizzas in NSW got slack yet nobody has negged this deal. It's bloody noodles. If you are that desperate for a freebie you might as well find a trolley with a dollar still in it and buy yourself something more decent.

Sounds like you need a hug…

  • Satay are the best imo.
