Is the fuel app worth using?

    • +3

      yes ive saved heaps !!

    • +1

It's pretty good, I saved 15 dollars last time I filled up. Cashier was a bit surprised, they must get too many users

      • there must have bee a good shift in the price when this occured, has it happened often…

        • well this week was 95c tuesday $1.29 wednesday.

    • +1

I uninstalled it. Didnt like the fact that I need to buy "blocks" of saved funds in advance with them in order to use it at the pump.

      • +1

Is there a minimum block amount?

        • +2

Cant remember.. but think it was $50 or something. Someone else might verify it. The other thing is too, that when you "buy blocks" say of $50 and your fill up was actually $70 then only $50 gets the lowest price whilst the remaining $20 is at the advertised price. Makes it kind of useless to me to have a part discount this way, plus hold up your money with them.

        • @bchliu: Same here. And I believe that there is a 7 days validity to it. Fortunately for me, I have 4 fuel station within a 1km radius so competition is amazing!

        • $10 is the minimum top-up amount

        • That is why you buy $70 or even more. I always buy more than my car's tank can be filled.

You are right though, the part discount doesn't make sense when you don't buy enough yet expect a discount on the whole thing.

I honestly couldn't fault the app to be honest. I really tried. Currently on a 99.9 cent coupon waiting to fill up on the day before my discount expires.

      • Same here, dislike buying blocks as well

    • Great in Melbourne when Fuel jumps up 30 cents!

Lock it in at the current rate and then fill up in 6 days and save 20+ cents a litre.

      • what happens when we lock in and don't fill up in 6 days?
        the money gets unlocked?

      • 7 day limit and then the $50 is forfieted?

        • +1

You load up credit to your account with real money. i.e. $80.

You lock in the price and amount of Litres, up to your credit balance, i.e. $79.

You fill up X number of litres on the bowser and get charged the locked in rate.

You can choose to pay using your 7/11 credit or your credit card.

If you pay via 7/11 credit, it deducts the credit obviously.

If you pay via credit card, the locked in price resets. You still have $80 credit on your 7/11 account.

If after 7 days, you don't use the locked in price. It resets or you can lock in the new rate again.

Nothing happens to your $80 credit on your 7/11 account unless you choose to pay for something with it.

I choose to pay via credit card and leave the credit with 7/11 for a few reasons, i.e. I can pay with AMEX in-store but not the app and secondly, it saves me topping up credit using the app.

        • @JB1: ok, now I see… pity it is 7/11…. why havnt other retailers jumped on this?

        • +1

          @robertbruce:

Nothing wrong with 7/11 Fuel, it's Mobil at the end of the day, which really means it's the same fuel as the major players.

Good thing for me is that it's only about 500m from my place, and I've saved more than $10 on numerous occasions.

Sometimes I save $2 as there's an 7/11 about 10KMs away which is always cheaper than my local 7/11.

        • +2

          @robertbruce:
Probably because the other retailers haven't underpaid their employees

        • @Aneurism: now i feel guilty about taking up the offer…8(

          @robertbruce:

ok, now I see… pity it is 7/11…. why havnt other retailers jumped on this?

because it only runs for a week so does not disturb the usual 2 week fuel gourge, um errr cycle…

        • @JB1: What happens if you lock in $50 dollars and only use $40 at the servo. Assuming you pay via credit card in store.

        • Why should you feel bad? The employees can take 7-11 to fair work.

If foreign student want to work past their 20 hour a week limit for much less than minimum wage who am I to say anything otherwise.

        • @wongsun:

You pay $40 and go home.

    • +2

It is the best thing happened in long time re fuel offers. All you do is top up your app once and then use that amount to lock the fuel price everytime and at the store just pay by using your credit card and then you will never have to top up the app again.

Also, If you lock it and don't use it, that's fine - after 7 days the fuel price will be unlocked and you won't lose a cent.

I locked 98 at $1.13 last week and will be filling up today when the price is $1.45.

  • I got free soup upon sign up
Maybe it's sign from the gods

  • saw this on my app the other day. Thought it was related to the free Krispy Kreme donut when signing for their newsletter. Done it now. Waiting for another free donut. Not like I need it.

Can i swap the donut for an apple…

    • +5

For those who don't know, putting a dot "." anywhere in your email bypasses email duplicate validation but you still receive emails.

e.g. if your email is [email protected] then [email protected] [email protected] etc. will still get to your account.

Use this information however you like =P

    • +9

As far as I'm aware, that only applies to GMail.

    • +1

Or you could just use an email alias.

      [email protected]

      • +1

Some (many?) websites invalidate the + symbol in an email address though which is a bit unfortunate.

edit: Actually. You could just do both.. but the possibilities are endless with the +

        • the possibilities are endless with the +

          +1 for that comment ;)

    • +1

I think swapping "@gmail.com" with "@googlemail.com" will work as well.

    • thanks for the info.

  • I hope the free donut appears for me…

  • Can you use doughnut and free soup at the same time or is it 1 offer PPPD?

    • Yes you can, i have used free soup, free doughnut and $2 pie at the same time before

  • Wait for free Krispy Kreme doughnut voucher to appear within 24 hours

Is this by email or by app?

  • +1

God dang, its targeted offer again, did not see it in my app

    • It's not targeted. It should appear once they have fixed the server issues.

  • Just went to get fuel and tried to use the free soup offer (don't have doughnut offer yet) and it gave an error. All the other offers did too. Attendant didn't know what to do so said try again tomorrow. Anyone else having errors?

    • Mines showing error on the soup too, the other offers are showing though.

  • Dreadful looking soup!!!

  • +1

Just registered, so no need to buy fuel, right?

  • Looks like the app is having issues. None of my offers are currently loading.

  • I took a screen shot of the soup offer. Will 7-11 accept it or has to be voucher appeared in the app?

    • If the offer barcode is present it should be fine.

    • You need to use the app…

I tried using a screen shot but it didn't scan / discount the item…

  • Time to get fat !!

  • Well cant see a free KK donut yet but I can see a free 711 soup… even better!

  • Your local endocrinologist thanks you :)

  • Is this just for the original glazed or any?
