Bad Experience with Amazon.com

Has anyone else experienced a bad service from amazon.com ?

I ordered a steam mop on the 23rd of July, was shipped on 26th (from China/Singapore) and I never got it till date. When I spoke to their customer service (chat) I only come across their offshore centers where those guys don't seem to understand even the written word of the English language. I just never got any direct answers - making me believe they didn't understand what I was asking (which was very simple anyway). Ultimately, they filed an A-Z claim and I will get my money after another 3 weeks. So, not only has my money been stuck for over 6 weeks, I do not even get a sincere apology, forgot about a compensation !

I think Amazon has started to lose it by a) listing dodgy sellers b) hiring customer support from offshore countries where the folks genuinely do not understand English and c) Are just not courteous any more. Which is completely opposite to my experience with them when I was in America and faced similar problems. Whats more, I tweeted this and even their social media team didn't bother to respond. Me thinks, even they didn't understand what I was talking about (a missing order FFS!) I seriously doubt if I will ever give any business to amazon.com anymore - it just isn't the same anymore.

If you want better service, buy from Amazon, not other sellers on Amazon, seems like you bought it from a Chinese seller on Amazon, so the customer service will supply by that seller.

    • Yeah, and sadly amazon doesn't fulfill all the products they list. Invariably, if you shop enough at amazon, you will end up ordering an item which isn't fulfilled by amazon - and I guess, hence the messed up service I experienced.

I only buy from "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" or "Fulfilled by Amazon".
Customer service from amazon is excellent.

If you buy from other sellers you may as well buy from ebay, which may give you a bit better protection.

    • I agree. Where Asian sellers are involved, Ebay has been so much better in handling claims (although I only have had one issue in the past)

I am scared to contact Amazon because if ever I have a problem they refund me.

  • A steam mop was cheaper from Amazon than ebay/proper store?! I'm surprised, by the time postage was added

I don't know if it's the norm now (for non-prime members at least) but my last Amazon order took over 2 weeks to ship. I remember back in 2011/2012, Amazon used to be really quick to ship (like within a couple of hours, order would be processing and it'd be shipped on the same day)

  • Last week I realised I needed a car part from Amazon but I couldn't find it even though I remember ordering it. I checked the order… it was back in December 2015.

Got into contact with Amazon customer service, told them I didn't remember receiving the package and asked whether or not they could somehow access the package tracking and determine if was my own dumb mistake for misplacing the package

They didn't even bother - got my $350 refund a couple of days later.

    Amazon for life!

  • My first order with Amazon was placed on the 11th of August this year. According to the Aussie post website, it's meant to arrive on the 22nd. So less than 2 weeks and $200 cheaper than I can get it here… Its terrible, I am not sure I'll use them again

  • Are you sure you talking about Amazon or is it Aliexpress ?
Sorry am asking this as my experience with Amazon has been perfect and its same for my friends and family.
    Their support is super awesome….

    • Amazon. And my experience with them has been amazing too - but only till I had the worst experience.

      • Hmm if so than that's really bad… I think it also sometimes depends you is your support staff…

But I still feel they are better then most of them
