Which car to choose between Lexus NX 200T F Sport and RX200T Luxury?

My aunt is having difficulty to choose between RX200T Luxury and NX200T F-Sport.
The RX200T is roughly $10k more expensive than NX200T F-Sport.

She is a fulltime housewife and have 3 children that age bettween 15 to 20. Two elder sons only went home once a week. But they do travel interstate every few months for short holiday and travel to city (1 hour drive) every few weeks.

If $$ is not an issue, which model is better choice?

PS# I have suggest Mercedes GLC but the waiting period is 8 months for GLC….

    Neither

Diesel 200 series landcriser would be better suited for those road trips and have better resale

did she like one better when she took them both for a drive?

  • NX used to look awful and RX used to look good, IMO.

I'd go with RX any day, size is better and NX feels like a compromise.

Don't believe car salesmen bullshit on 6 months wait for cars. There is almost always floor stock.

Here is a brand new 0km GLC250 for below list price.

    Get the GLC.

  • Get a secondhand/demo GLC.

I test drove the RX200t when shopping before my last purchase a couple months ago. RX200T luxury is 2wd - that 2L Turbo is smooth and powerful enough however a test drive on a wet day had the front wheels spinning a bit starting from a stand still on a hill. Depends if your aunt is a confident driver she wont be bothered but I found it unusual since I normally get AWD on this size car. Lexus infotainment system pretty clunky - not in the same league as BMW/MB/Audi. That being said the RX looks great, has a huge amount of interior space compared to NX/GLC, huge amount of boot space compared to NX/GLC. No Digi speedo unless you shell out for Enhancement Pack 2 in which case you get it as a HUD.

NX and GLC look about the same size - a class smaller. I only sat inside them. Neither will happily seat 3 in the back row which ruled it out for me, I'd get the GLC between those 2 on paper since it's a newer car and feels more premium on the inside. Don't believe that dealer BS about availability - different dealers have different inventory they swap amongst themselves but as a first preference they try to sell out of their existing inventory. They can always factory order which should mean you can save on not taking options you don't want.

If it's not an urgent purchase and she's not specifically looking for the badge, VW is putting out a new Tiguan this year which would be my pick over all of the above - the 5 seater models will be made in Germany and you get some of the tech from the newest Audis like the virtual cockpit making an appearance.

Best thing to do though is test drive - hope it goes well

  • Waiting for "Get some sort of Holden or Hyundai" comments.

  • Ummm You know this is Ozbargains yh?

  • My choice: http://www.carsales.com.au/demo/details/Audi-Q5-2016/OAG-AD-… - diesel

    http://www.carsales.com.au/demo/details/Audi-Q5-2016/OAG-AD-… - petrol

Much cheaper. Model is on run out and that's why it is so competitively priced!

I've driven the lexus - hated the CVT gearbox and the car felt very slow. Previously owned a range rover evoque too. Q5 TDI sport was best to drive and came with A LOT of standard equipment! - best value for money. That's what OZB is all about.

  • Thanks for all the comments and replies. My aunt ended has purchased NX200t F Sport.

She is extremely happy with it at the moment.
