NEW Lenovo ThinkPad 13 ultrabook -- $1104 / Skylake i5, 8GB DDR4, 1080p IPS, USB-C semi-ruggedised laptop

Just noted Lenovo is doing an un-advertised deal for the new Lenovo 13 Ultrabook, a very nice, entry level business-grade ultrabook with all the modern conveniences:

Skylake Core i5 / i3
IPS Matte display @ 1080p
8 gigs of DDR4 2133MHz
M.2 256GB Samsung SSD with Self encryption
Fingerprint reader
USB-Type C with support for video output and battery charging (Gen. 1) and three USB 3.0 ports.
roughly 8 hours battery runtime
supports the OneLink dock

1.4 KG. (only 50 grams heavier than the 2015 MB Air)

The downside:
no backlit keyboard upgrade option
not as sturdy as the Thinkpad T series
display is not color accurate enough for semi-professional photo editing

Looks like a pretty nice, and powerful alternative to the Air…

  • I can get this for $800+cashrewards.
The problem is the 13" screen and the non-backlit keys. :(

    • Discount through work?

      • yeah

  • The current 13" MacBook Air is 1.35kg which makes this Lenovo only 50g heavier, not 500!

    • +1

      (quickly edits)

what are you talking about :)

  • It's also OneDock+ which has different connector to OneDock. Yeah I know it's confusing, but hopefully with USB C becoming standard we'll see the docking stations converge into that plug standard.
