NUC Monitor Suggestions

Hi everyone,

I've currently got a few intel NUC on order at work. I'm trying to find a monitor which will be suitable for them. It's got to have a HDMI input, adjustable stand, built in speakers and at least 22" in size. The closest I've found is a HP E222, however its lacking a HDMI port. Does anyone know of any monitors which fit these requirements?

Thanks in advance!

If it's got a DVI port, you can buy a cheap adaptor.

    • I'm trying to avoid adapters since the HDMI port on the NUC is weak and prone to failing if there is weight put on it, we've had them fail in the past from this.

The adapter is on the monitor side. I've used one with a HDMI cable successfully.

      • Do you mind sharing which specific version of NUC's you are working with ?
Most NUC's I've been using at work(both for development and to be deployed as production devices ) have a display port as well. My models are: http://ark.intel.com/products/87570/Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC5i7RYH

Now if you have the display port in your nuc, you could get an adapter to work with any input you wish( DVI/HDMI/VGA). Not sure why you wish to avoid them, I've been using these adapters for more than a year and they work absolutely fine. Having said that however if you wish to deploy NUC+Monitor to your customer's site then you might be looking at a steady solution.Perhaps a decent mini-hidmi(on nuc) to HDMI( on monitor) cable should do the job if higher fidelity is required. I would be careful in looking at monitors with speakers if sound quality is essential for any application you are doing. Also remember audio channels are supported over hdmi and even on display-port to hdmi as well.

    • Agree with GP. Something like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HDMI-to-DVI-D-24-1-Pin-Male-Cable…

If you're not needing sound sent to the monitor, than know reason to spend extra to get one with HDMI.

      • NUCs don't have speakers, so I'm hoping to get a monitor with onboard speakers.

        • Oh yes, missed the onboard speakers comment from your post. My bad.

Is this just a home thing? Or a workplace/public space. Would you consider just getting a small pair of speakers. Will be cheaper than getting a monitor with built ins and have better sound quality.

        • AFAIK the NUC will have a sound device with 3.5 mm output socket. Couldn't you just run a cable with 3.5mm plugs between the NUC and the monitor with the speakers?

        • @tomsco:
Workplace, I've got 70 units to setup. If it was for home i'd be much more flexible.

        • @mrjames: Ah. Fair enough.

    • He wants audio too, HDMI makes sense.

  • What about a USB monitor?

Oh, maybe not up to that size yet.

Dude, you're probably getting a dell. With optional sound-bars.

Although honestly, 23.6" is a much better size for a roll-out. 22" is just under the threshold for useful aero snap.

OTOH if you're going to buy monitor accessories, monitor stands are based on the VESA standard and will reduce the cost of monitor/AIO purchases in the future. An IPS panel with speaker and poor stand is fairly cheap. A good stand is also fairly cheap.

This seems to have it all. We've rolled out Viewsonics here (15) and are happy with them: http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/23-24_inch/63922…

  • Just do a search on static ice.

    keywords used

    "HDMI SPK"

    24" HDMI SPK
    http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=24"+HDMI+SP…

As you can see there are plenty of options. The AOC M2470Swh is 23.6 inches, has Speakers and HDMI ports. It's also less than $150 dollars.
