  • Thanks. Was eyeing secure parking deal for some time now.

  • with this 15% off groupon still can make money? wonder how much % they take from merchants? any insider info?

    • +1

Apparently someone commented in a previous post that it was 40%

      • +2

i know someone who used Groupon for her business, she said 36%.

    • +3

      Groupon take ~40%.

Groupon also holds all money paid until the voucher is redeemed. Once redeemed, the vendor claims against the presented voucher # to Groupon, to receive payment of their percentage.

At any time, Groupon is sitting on a fortune in $$ from unredeemed vouchers. It is a great arrangement for them.

i thought i read in the newspaper one of the groupon trick is to tell vendor that a % of the vouchers will not be claimed therefore vendor get free money from those unclaimed.

A merchant told me Groupon will not pay the business until the service has actually been delivered.

They gave example where a worker had lost a list of customers with redeemed vouchers. They could not claim payment despite having provided service to those customers. In other words, documentation to get payment from Groupon was a bit of a pain in the ass.

They also had a customer complain to Groupon after visiting their business several times, as per the deal. They did not get paid in that instance. They felt they had been scammed by this particular customer, who used the service over multiple visits then complained. Who knows what actually happened there.

Personally, I would not pay the merchants until they have provided the service either. There is risk of them not honouring the voucher for any number of reasons.

        • @spacecowboy: I remember a while ago, some merchants had their ads on Groupon for a long time with no available vouchers, all sold out.Maybe that was their way to do free ad and give Groupon no kickback.

Knowing this,I am sure that small business owners will mostly be happy to take money from you directly for Groupon deal if you would bother to ask for it.

        • @Neoika: I called one merchant recently, & they did offer to give me the deal direct at the Groupon price. But I went through Groupon app for the extra 15% discount :) I just called first to make sure I could get an appointment soon before buying the voucher.

But yes, if you call Groupon merchants direct that certainly does happen. I don't blame them, Groupon takes a huge cut on the sale.

  • can't find the parking deal on the app for some reason… can see on website but not in app

You can change your location to Sydney.
Tap on search box, location should be underneath it for you to change.

      • Thanks bud… got it :)

        • Oh god i just released why i couldn't see the offer… i'm in melb
after purchasing i noticed it said its valid for NSW…. shiat!

  • Thanks.
Was waiting for it to be back. Now I can get my car detailed.
Update: there are some bad reviews for car washing companies on groupon.
Please check reviews before hitting 'Buy'.

    • yeah would be cautious about those companies too, they want to advertise their business but then do a lazy as job when doing the work

  • Kebab deal shows up as $5.70 after entering the coupon code

  • FYI, The secure parking Credit is valid to: 31 Jan 2017

    • Also, best to get buy either $25 credit or $200 credit for maximum % discount (49% off on both including this deal's discount)
$50 credit if only 41% off and $100 credit is 45% off.

  • Any way to get Cashback on the app on Android?

  • Lets say I buy $100 Secure Parking credit and spend $20 on a carpark, do I forfeit the remaining $80 or still get to use it for future bookings?

    • +1

      Use for future bookings

    • Expires on January 31st 2017 so that's a lot of parking

      • It's a good deal for those who regularly visit the city

Shame the single customer deal is gone. Anyone know a dentist that offers similar prices with x-ray?

    • it does say for one $59?

      • Sold out sadly

      • Just found out Groupon has many similarly priced deals (though not sure if all with x-ray).
