Organic Cacao Beans
Raw whole cacao beans, Trinitario variety, grown organically on Malekula Island, Vanuatu and shipped to Australia by sailboat. Guaranteed to have not been treated with pesticide spray or heat on entry to Australia.
Lightly roasted they can be eaten whole as a superfood or ground down into a drinking chocolate. Feeling a bit more ambitious? Make your own cacao products or even try bean to bar homemade dark chocolate. There are many recipes available on the internet for making healthy cacao recipes with added nuts, dried fruits and seeds.
Raw cacao has amazing health benefits being one of the highest antioxidant foods on the planet – much higher than blueberries and even goji berries. They are packed full of health giving and ‘feel good’ compounds and minerals such as iron, zinc, copper, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and sulfur.
With the years of experience we have roasting specialty coffee, we realised that this expertise could be translated through to cacao and have fine tuned our process and are able to deliver high quality fresh roasted organic cacao for our customers enjoyment.

DO NOT GRIND IN CONICAL BURR COFFEE GRINDER UNLESS YOU ARE HAPPY TO CLEAN THE MESS/GRINDER AFTERWARDS :-)
We did grind in our coffee burr grinder but it came out like liquid chocolate and meant I had to strip and clean my grinder ;-)
A better way is to use a blade grinder or food processor. You can eat the beans whole or short bursts of a blender/ blade grinder will produce a result more preferable if wanting a powder like drinking chocolate. You can add vanilla or sugar as required. More intense blending due to heat will produce more like a liquid chocolate.
They are very versatile and there are a lot of guides/recipes online and if feeling more ambitious you can even make your own chocolate (bean to bar)

  • Any chance I can get a small sample with our next corporate order? :):)

    • Sure thing but don't grind in your coffee machine. play with it at home. or you can just eat the beans straight out the bag :-) Please leave notes or add remind me when placing your next order :-)

  • Is your coffee also organic?

    • +1

Some of our coffees are registered organic but all of our coffee is specialty grade and therefore grown at a decent altitude and not lower grade lower altitude coffees where more defects can be present.

Essentially the same product at significantly lower prices via FarmHouse Direct:

Organic Bolivian cocoa beans (roasted or raw) $25/kg free shiping:
    https://www.farmhousedirect.com.au/cravve/bolivian-organic-c…

Fijian Coaca Nibs $24/kg free shipping:
    https://www.farmhousedirect.com.au/cravve/fijian-cocoa-nibs

new season delivery Fijian cocoa beans $24/kg free shipping:

While cocoa-nibs are more bitter than chocolate they're still great in smoothies or mixed with yogurt etc.

Thanks Wolfy, appreciate the feedback! I'll have a more detailed look. We only have a small quantity(60kg) to test run and we are fresh roasting to order. Not sure if farmhouse direct's product is the same. Also these are of the Trinitario variety so not the cheaper grade cacao beans.

If popular and the demand is there then we'll look at importing larger quantities and try to make it cheaper for our regular Ozbargain customers :-)

  • Are they fresh roasted or raw? confused by the title vs body.

Any options for a smaller quantity? I'm ordering coffee soon, could I have a tiny sample with my order perhaps?

    • We bought the raw organic cacao beans and we are then fresh roasting to order. and selling the roasted beans :-) If you leave a note in Paypal I'll try my best

  • Interesting Market ….think it needs the ' in the suburbs ' coffee shops to sell them and make more accessible in small quantities and impulse buys so people can try in small quantities to see what is about.

Id try 100 grams to see what it's about .

  • Any idea how long these can be stored?

    • +1

About 6-9 months when raw but over a year once roasted :-) Still best to grind as you go and store in cool dark place in valved bag. similar to coffee. I've got some I roasted a few weeks ago as a trial and still performing really well :-)

      • I have a chamber vacuum sealer. Would you recommend valved bags or vacuum sealed? I have tried a batch from Costco (I know, I know) and they didn't seem to inflate the bag, but then again we'd top up the grinder every day so it is resealed every day.

        • +1

actually with fresh roasted coffee the valved bags are better than vac sealed. Coffee benefits from degassing and when the bags inflate the valve releases gas at certain pressure.

The air itself that is in the bag helps the coffee to degas. If you vac seal then you are pushing out the air completely and it is not degassing properly. Vac sealing is perhaps a good option for long term storage but not as good for fresh coffee being drunk within a month of roasting :-)

EDIT: Just realised this is the cocao thread and not coffee thread :-) Your Vac sealer would be fine for the Cacao!

Yeah or perhaps go with a 4 X 480g deal with coffee eg
3 x 480g coffee and 1x 480g of these in a deal, I would go for that just out of curiosity, it's very little risk factor to the customer

    • +1

      Sounds good ;-)

      • Let us know if you come up with anything, I'm just about ready to put in another order!

        • +2

If you want to go 4 x 480g for $64.95 (3 of them coffee and 1 of them Cacao) happy to do that :-) If suitable you can send funds through Paypal to [email protected] and leave a note.
