Look for unbranded Fexofenadine at your local pharmacy, it's exactly the same thing but it's always much cheaper than this.

    • Like how much?

      • +1

Actually unless they're on sale they pretty much match this value, so this is a decent deal, but if you're hunting for it when this bargain isn't available, check out Fexo or other alternatives.

http://www.pharmacydirect.com.au/Product/chemists-own-fexo-1… <— only $5 less at a discount pharmacy (would be $30 at your local pharmacy)

Process that cashback and this Telfast is actually a steal, tempting!

$22 (but you need $99 for free shipping)

I have seen it on the shelves for $22 at Pharmacy4less before.

Don't forget the upcoming Amex shop small. it can make the chemist quite cheap :-)

    • Yes. The demise of Chemist Warehouse started when they began deleting generic lines. No generic Telfast and no generic Zyrtec. Watch this space.

  • Whats the usual price at Chemist Warehouse?

  • +1

    for a second I thought I saw Teclast Tablet for $29.99 :)

  • This really isn't anything new to be considered a deal, Telfast and Zyertec have had these cashback deals since last year.

  • Always a big pain in the arse to do the cashback.
With or without it, it's still more cost effective to get the nasal spray which is what I use. Telnase (42.8 cents per dose vs 26)
I think the spray is more instant, but of course it doesn't work if your sinuses are already blocked up from the pollen irritation unlike the tablets.

Your link is a steroid (triamcinolone), this is a non-sedating antihistamine (fexofenadine). Please look at active ingredients before making comparisons.

      • So you'd say it's less effective?
        Does the job for me.
The chemicals mean nothing to the layman I am.

I'm saying they're different drugs and they do different things. Both are symptomatic treatments for hayfever, but intranasal steroids can also be used for sinusitis while antihistamines are also (occasionally) helpful in allying non-specific itches and rashes. It's like saying "rather than buying this Corolla, you should buy a bike instead". Both get you from A to B, but do it differently. The car is faster, but the bike is also going to be good exercise (assuming you use it).
It surprises me how often people don't know or care about what drugs they're putting into their body. I guess your comment just exemplifies this.

Well for one, you can't rely on a steroid as it will have long term side effects if used too regularly, where as antihistamines are fairly docile if you stay within the recommended dosage. (I don't recommend relying on it to mask symptoms of conditions you haven't had diagnosed however.)

Also I find the nasal solution prone to failed applications, and since it's a steroid you can't just reapply or over apply, and as you said, it's difficult to use when you need it the most.

        • The nasal stuff seems better for sinus allergies (nose, eyes, etc), but the tablet is handy for hives (itchy skin/rashes,etc). Sometimes I just use the eye drops if red & itchy eyes as that works the best.

Fexo/Telfast is just a good general all rounder.

          I hope that helps

@Sturmeh: Let's not get bogged into a discussion regarding the pros and cons of intranasal steroids vs antihistamines. I'm just pointing out the fact that Sage's claim that his intranasal steroid was cheaper is a false analogy as she/he is making an apples to oranges comparison.
