  • Are these backed with a warranty that reflects the claim that they will stand up to the test of time?
How light are they compared to their competition?

    • "time" is a very vague test - in this case it's probably just the warranty period.
Every product is warranted to stand up to the "test of time".

Lifetime warranty on these bad boys, Radar and 086. :) And, we here at Snowys take after-sales support extremely seriously. Check out our reviews on Google, Facebook, and our testimonials.

It's probably worth noting that time has passed since your last post.
      Test passed!

      • I'm not sure what you mean, 0xFFFF?

        • Your reply to Radar and 086 is what I was after :)

        • @0xFFFF: Awesome. If there is anything else, leave a comment. I'm only too happy to help. :)

    • Oops, I answered the first part of your question below, re warranty.

Weight - Turbos aren't light. They're a hefty bit of kit. The lightest, the Turbo Lite 210, weighs in at 15kg. It's nearest competitor, probably the Coleman Instant Up 4P, weighs in at 14kg.

    • +1

I used mine for the first time this weekend just gone. Great tent, easy to put up/take down. I have the 210 Lite version - its not particularly light but thats not a problem if its going in the back of a car / 4WD. I couldn't be happier with mine

      • Glad to hear it, @Digitalane. :)

  • Productreview doesn't seem to rate the tents very well. I thought that they were a premium product as well.

Productreview.com.au is an interesting site. With respect to it, it seems to be where people go when they have had a negative experience. That said, Snowys does have 4.8/5 stars which is pretty nice!

Also, a lot of the product reviews you will read on there stem back to the after-sale support they have received from a retailer. Sometimes products are faulty or break, a good experience can still be had if the retailer and/or manufacturer look after them. We say, if you have an issue with any of our products come back to us and we'll make it right. Happy customers are sooooooo important to us and are why we have the reputation we do. :)

If you check out some of the Australian 4WDing and camping forums, you'll probably read a bit more of a realistic view of the Turbo range. Also, check out the review tabs on each of the product pages on our site. They are all authentic reviews written by actual customers.

OP, Can you tell me how long the sale is on for? I have just bought a new side panel but need to wait on some more funds to come through to buy another side panel and canvas front panel.

    • ppierce - It's actually our everyday price until stock sells out. So for as long as stock lasts. Give us a bell - 1300 914 007 - and we could put them on hold for a time if you like?

Forgot to say. Really good tent ! Ive got the Turbo 300 plus. Seriously heavy tent but worth it when out in the elements…

    • +1

We are regular campers and have a turbo lite 300 twin as our family tent. It's a beautiful tent. Easy to put up and take down. Feels to be well constructed. Only negative it that it's quite heavy (about 30 kg).

This week we bought the lite side panels for the turbo 300 from Snowys. $94 v $200 rrp v $150 next lowest price. Ordered Tuesday, arrived today. Very happy.

      • +1

Glad to hear you and your Turbo Lite 300 Plus are getting along, @thedragon! You're right, it's a heavy'n, but that's the price you pay for the convenience and durability. :P

Glad you got your side panels safe and sound. They arrived nice and quickly I see. Always our aim.

        Cheers, Paul

        • Hi Paul, I totally agree with your comment about the weight. I'd rather it be heavy and robust than light and flimsy. :-)

  • Don't have anything to add about the tent. But i bought a sleeping bags from snowys and they arrived speedily :) Very happy with.

Looking for a hydration system but snowys doesn't sell :(

Really bad reviews regarding Turbo Lite Twin 300 . Fly doesn't cover end part of tent (you will get wet in the rain)

    • I believe the next model will be doing a way to address this. ~ Paul

    • +1

I just want to expand on my response to this question. The issue isn't really that common. In really heavy rain there is a chance the webbing on the corners (more so on the Plus, extremely rarely on the Twin) can get soaked and wick water into the tent. This can easily and cheaply be overcome by applying a bit of sealing agent to the inside and outside of the seam. (This is a good idea for any tent, always!) From what I have heard, the new fly will provide a bit better coverage and will reduce the chance of the webbing getting wet.

At the end of the day, no tent is 100% waterproof, 100% of the time.

      Hope that helps. Cheers, Paul

Our school has about 12 Turbo Lite tents that I believe are about 6 years old. We don't use 3 of them anymore because the hinges in the legs rusted and left the tents with an odd smell. We replaced them with Coleman Instant-Up tents. Both are super easy to put up, and while the Black Wolf tents seem more durable, the Colemans were a hell of a lot cheaper.

I'm not knocking this deal. They are some good prices for Black Wolfs. We ordered our Colemans from Snowy's, delivered to regional WA, and we were very happy with purchase process.

    • Sorry to hear about the Turbos, Puffinfresh. Did you work through it as a warranty request?

Glad you had a good experience with us. The Instant Ups are ripper, aye?

      • I just assumed they were out of warranty, and the problem was likely caused by our students not caring for them as well as they should have. I'll see if I can find out exactly when they were purchased. They weren't from you guys.

        • Turbos have a lifetime warranty. And, if you got it from us, we're always willing to have a look. Reasonable wear and tear and misuse wouldn't be covered though. Ah, students. :)

Know, if you have any issues with the Instant Ups we're here to help. :) Paul

wow, these are great prices! I bought the 450 Lite Cabin during EOFY sale at tentworld for $1200 which i thought was a good deal, now snowys has it for under $1000

My experience with the Blackwolf tent has been limited to setting it up in the back yard. Took about 15-20 minutes to set up and thats the first time ive done it. The process was fun and could be done by one person who knows what they're doing :)

The quality of the canvas and poles feels really good. No negs what so ever

edit: some advice i got from experienced tent people, the turbo tents are great, dont bother with the done ones. They tend to be overpriced and competition has comparable products for much cheaper e.g. coleman

      • high five for being a Turbo owner - :D
  • OP, which side panel should i get for the 450 cabin thats weatherproof, to store my stove and cooking gear next to? The ones on your website all have listed that they are compatible but wont reach the ground on the 450

    e.g.

    http://www.snowys.com.au/Tents-Shelters/Touring-Tents/Turbo-…

    http://www.snowys.com.au/Tents-Shelters/Touring-Tents/Turbo-…

    • +1

Blackwolf have not yet released a side panel for the 450 so the panel will not reach the ground as you have stated.

      • +1

Incorrect, all side panels fit all turbo tents. The 450 has a front panel as well. To completely weatherproof it you will need the screenroom and any style walls

        http://www.snowys.com.au/Tents-Shelters/Touring-Tents/Turbo-…

        • +1

Sorry I meant a side panel which will reach the ground. You are correct that current sides will work, just not fully going to ground level…

        • +2

          @ppierce:
No worries. This was also the case with my 240 when I first put the walls on, but if you lower the front poles ever so slightly you can peg all walls down to weatherproof 90%. The screenroom will create the waterproof ground cover.

        • +1

@Hinee: Just bought the deluxe side panel, thanks for the advice all

  • Can you do anything on the Hubba Hubba with footprint?

Any chance we'll see a deal on the Oztent RV5?

    • +1

We currently have 'em at $1,119.00. That's a pretty good deal. ;) Cheers, Paul

  • +1

    Great deal OP!

Yes these are the rolls royce of tents, but don't have great reviews.

Oztrail also make a carbon copy instant tent (same as lite) at half the price (quarter of normal price).

    • Thanks @LoopyLou. Wouldn't agree with that completely. Most Turbo users are more than happy with 'em. Oztrail do a few great ones too though and represent great value for money. :) ~ Paul

I finally bought a Turbo Lite 240 Plus in July after wanting one for years and can absolutely say these tents are the shit. Easy as to set up, really good quality and accessories available to really make it your own. If anyone is confused by the naming of this series (as I was for a long time), this is what each word means for my particular tent:
Turbo - turbo range of tents, self explanatory
Lite - polyester material, without the lite means it will be the thick canvas instead. Around 30% heavier but much thicker
    240 - size. 2.4m x 2.4m. I believe they come in 200, 240, 300 & 450
Plus - as well as the 2.4m x 2.4m main tent, there is another 1.8m vestibule at the back that fits a queen bed easy.

These prices are absolutely brilliant and I would highly recommend these tents to anyone.

    • Hey Paul, great prices across the board but the one thing I actually need (240 extenda awning lite) is still $20 cheaper at Tentworld. Any chance of topping that?

  • any chance of a deal on the Oztrail Stretcher Tent https://www.snowys.com.au/Sleeping-Gear/Stretchers-and-Beds/… Can be had for $180-$200 delivered on eBay atm. Whats your best price please? :D

    • I reckon the price you see on our site is probably the lowest we can go at the moment. The one I think you saw on eBay doesn't include free shipping so becomes $189.95 + $29.00 = $218.95. We're selling it for $219.90. Benefit of buying it from us - you know who we are, where we are, and we're known for our steller after-sale support. :)

Bought a few BW side panels from snowys recently during an earlier sale, this is even cheaper.

    Awesome service and quick delivery.

    • Nice buy, @Kacak! :) Glad you had a good experience. ~ Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Great prices for these tents but why the reduction? I've noticed Tentworld is also discounting to a similar amount. Are there new models coming out? Also, great customer service answering all the questions on Ozbargain!

    • you are right Lenny, new models hitting shops soon. From the tentworld website:

      2016-17 Turbo Tent Updates

New construction where floor meets tent wall seam, now tape seam sealed
Re-enforcing on the inside of the fly where the fly sits on the Turbo Frame and ridgepole
New construction where zips for side panels and velcro for front panel attaches to the fly to allow for tape sealing
Extra fly coverage at the corners of the tent for improved weather protection
PVC Storm flaps added to side and front panels for improved weather protection and better fit across all Turbo styles
Tape sealing on all seams on front and side panels
Turbo (canvas) upgrade to floor material, PVC replaced with 600D Siliconised Polyester PU
Turbo Lite upgrade to stronger door & window mesh

      https://www.tentworld.com.au/blackwolf-turbo-lite-cabin-450-…

    • Spot on - the new model is coming out soon. And we'll certainly be stocking it.

However, we bought up a massive quantity of the current model because we've been in love with it for a long time. The new model looks great, though with a slightly lower weight floor, but the current model is tried and tested and is a product we actively promote.

Love chatting to you guys, so it's my pleasure to answer any questions.

      • +1

        Paul,
Will the new side & front panels still be compatible with the current turbo tent range?

        • @ppierce - They sure will be. However, I believe there will also be a new range of accessories too. Cheers, Paul

        • @paul-snowys:
Anything you're able to share about the new accessories? I'm also curious about the differences with the new walls, they sound great.

        • @Hinee: Not really as yet. Sign up to our mailing list and we'll drip feed info as it comes out. However, I know the watertightness will be improved.

        • @Hinee:

          From tentworld website -

          2016-17 Turbo Accessories Updates

PVC Storm flaps added to side and front panels for improved weather protection and better fit across all Turbo styles
Tape sealing on all seams on front and side panels

Is is worth an extra $90-100? though… mmmmm Decision’s Decision’s

        • @ppierce:
New walls are out October 20. I can't picture the storm flaps, but $240 is ludicrous. I use 1 standard and 1 deluxe wall and both velcro down the full height of the fly as well as clip in under the front poles for plenty of strength and water-tightness. Your feet will still get wet from torrential rain but that's what the main tent is for :)

        • @Hinee:
Cheers mate! You are right.. I've bought a deluxe panel so just need to get another side panel and front..

  • Just want to say, you've been really responsive and helpful Paul. There are not nearly enough camping related deals on Ozbargain - come back anytime!

Especially if you can get the Exped Megamat 10 LXW down to $199 again.

    • N'aww, thanks @Radar. It's my pleasure. You're a great bunch, what can I say. I'm going to try to post a deal each week. :)

Ah yes, the Megamat. The only self-inflating sleeping mat that has a cult following I reckon! (Alas, I am part of said cult - I <3 mine!) One day maybe. One day.
