Any Previous Experience with Korean eBay 27" Monitors?

Hi everyone

Since I've recently purchased a GTX 1070, I thought it might be a good opportunity to upgrade my monitor from a 21" 1600x900 acer to something a little nicer.

After perusing the Whirlpool Korean monitor thread, there were no mentions of "Xavvio" a brand that sells 27" WQHD panels for <$300 but I feel like this might be a bargain.

Here's the one I'm hoping to purchase.

Any personal experience with these panels or Korean import panels in general from the OzB community?

I'm currently looking at a Qnix QHD 2710R 27" QHD, which looks damn near identical to that.

I'm very happy with mine, I paid $318 for a pixel-perfect one, I figured the extra $20 was worth it to be sure; however, the same model now is up to $379 from the same seller, so I'm chuffed.

They seem to be pretty happy with the older models, but apparently there was some change in panel quality (not sure how recently). Congrats on getting a great panel!

  • I have the X-Star DP2414LED

I got it for $202 dollars after using a 20 percent discount code (originally $250)

The panel is good, 144hz refresh and 1 ms GTG. The stand is below average and the OSD buttons placement is rather terrible, making it hard to make adjustments.

It has unfortunately, about 3 stuck pixels all grouped in a single line at nearly the middle of the display. On a white background the red pixels stick out like a sore thumb but it's pretty much invisible while gaming or watching videos.

Stuck pixels are not considered the same as Dead Pixels though, so unfortunately it doesn't qualify for warranty. Hoping it goes away after a while.

    • It's such an annoying technicality, as even the more expensive "pixel perfect" listings could end up with stuck pixels. Did you try to massage/light cycle them?

      • Tried, but can't be arsed, plus it doesn't bother me much so I decided to leave things to nature (and time)

  • I bought a Shimian 27" IPS monitor from S.Korea about 5 years back. Arrived with a greenish tint, so I sent it back at their cost and they sent a replacement. Both times the shipping was ridiculously fast, faster than some stuff I ordered from Victoria!

The Shimian lasted 5 years and finally died a few months back, replaced it with a Samsung. Really nice IPS screen at half the cost of a Dell

    • Which samsung model? Also who was the seller of the Shimian?

      • I bought the curved 27" Samsung. Can't remember the name of the seller on ebay, sorry… but the Shimian screens are great in my experience

It would've been, but I am on a $400 max budget.

Hey guys, with the Dell U2515H deals around, I've decided to go with that instead. 3 years warranty from dell without worrying about warranty/returns from a Korean seller. Granted it's 25" instead of 27", I feel like that's the best thing for me atm. Will post back if anyone's keen on performance :D
