Cheapest elsewhere seems to be this deal from Shopping Express which is $660.45 - $666 shipped. Cheapest on staticICE is $669 pick up from MSY.

    4K + IPS = YAY

    • +11

Just needs some gsync, 144hz, 1ms and 34" ultrawide. I'll keep dreaming though :(

      • +3

        I just need 144,24" ips……

        • throw in 1920x1080 and im with you 100%
from the benchmarks it seems nobody can run higher res at a stable 144fps, its still a struggle with 1920x1080.

        • @philmarcracken: yep 1080p. i dont need higher, not with current technology….Frame rate is way more important for me…..

however there are only TN panel…TN sucks….i have one….

      • I dream with you too with curve 😂

      • +5

Even the 1080 struggles at 4K@60Hz at max settings lol. You'd need them in SLI to even get 60Hz+ at decent settings. As for me I am waiting for the LG 38 Ultrawide for some of that juicy 21:9 goodness.

        • +3

I don't need to be using all the features at once. I can use 4k for pretty games and media. 144hz for competitive games. Ultrawide for everything, especially nice for movies and productivity.

      • And then a graphics card to get close to 144hz at 4k.

      • umm… no pint in 144hz on a 4k monitor.. NOT even Dual SLI 1080's can get close to 144FPS in new games. Heck.. you may not even see it from dual 1080ti or AMD Vega 11 GPU's next year.

    • +8

      I need 27", 1440p, IPS, 144Hz, Gsync for $600 :)

      • Just what I am looking for too!
I don't want 4K where text becomes hard to read. I know text scaling exists, but not all software handles it properly.

      • Double this. This monitor is ok for desktop use but I wouldn't buy it for gaming

      • I want one of that as well. Recently interested in DEll u2715h which $588 at FuTu

  • +3

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/261825 got it back during this deal. This monitor + gtx 1080 is heaven.

    • +5

I thought freesync was AMD only though. Can your 1080 go above 60fps with it?

      • +1

Would also like this to be confirmed? AFAIA freesync isn't compatible with nvidias..

      • +1

        Freesync is AMD only cards.

      • +3

Yep it is AMD only but its still a great 4k monitor for gaming assuming you are running your games at 60fps unless you want to fork out the extra $$$ for a g sync enabled monitor.

      • +2

Yep, it can definitely go over 60fps at 1440p on most AAA titles, I haven't noticed any tearing as of yet, however I did overclock it to 72hz.

  • +4

Ok deal, personally looking for a 27 inch, QHD (2560x1440p), ULtrawide 21.9, curved, 1ms, 144hz, maybe g sync or free sync for around $500

    • +4

      That won't happen for a good few years(or ever considering 2560x1440 isn't a 21:9 resolution).

      • +1

Oops thanks fixed my mistake 😅

        3440 x 1440p

        • I was wondering what was missing 😎

    • +3

Dreaming atm! Esp for something with Gsync (as it adds a $200 price premium on its own!), curved and 144hz…

      • Yup😂
        Thats why i said maybe

    • 27 inch would be pretty small for ultrawide and 1440p. I don't even know if 27" 21:9 exists

    • for 21:9 that's a res of 3440x1440. I've been eyeing the dell u3415w. It's only 5ms and 80hz but it retails for over $1k

  • If there was ever a time for me to upgrade from my PA248Q.. Must.. Resist..

  • goog price

  • Very tempted by this to replace my u2711, but then again the tight ass in me thinks one of the cheap $420 korean 4k 28" monitors will be good enough.

    • You'd be suprised at this issues monitors can have.

  • :/ still looking for a cheap 1440p freesync monitor but they seem to be almost the price of 4k in Australia…

  • +4

better than the 31" 1080p crap thats being posted recently

  • Been looking for a new monitor for a while, but I've had my eyes on the LG 34UM68-P which is $669 from MSY. Anyone got any knowledge on why I should consider this one instead?

    • +1

I think I'd rather the untrawide. 1080p is pretty low for 34" though. Maybe save some and get the cheaper 29" version?

      • The difference between 29 and 34 inches in terms of screen size is enormous.

  • thanks op, just bought one, its been maybe 6+ years since i last bought a monitor, cant wait for this glorious screen to come.

  • I think this will be good for PS4 Pro as it has HDMI as well. Nice find OP

    • +4

The monitor costs more than the ps4 pro..

Must be time for you to start looking at pc part sales

      • I do have gaming Pc and ps4 but I enjoy playing games on console more for some reason.

    • No HDR though.

  • Finally a monitor that deserves a vote! Wouldn't mind if it was a bit cheaper like $205!? Any luck Ozbargain?

    • Yeah, similar chance to winning a Lottery jackpot ;p

  • +6

Anyone thinking of buying this, remember its freesync range is 40-60Hz. For freesync to work, you MUST have an AMD card AND push out a minimum of 40FPS (max 60FPS)

Not saying this is a bad monitor, just be informed

    • +2

good luck gettin 144hz and g-sync at 580$

  • Now I just need a 1080 to comfortably game at 4k

    • I've got a mate with a 1070 that gets decent framerates at 4k.

      • Yeah but the settings would be cranked down a bit

        • Not too much tbh, it still way worth running 4k with a 1070.

        • 980ti has been great for my 4K gaming. Those who need every preset cracked to the max to enjoy a game won't be satisfied for a couple of years yet.

  • No mention of HDR so I presume it doesn't support it? Looking for a 4k monitor for the PS4 pro so need HDR 🙁

  • I bought the samsung for $520 last week.
Which one is better? THis or samsung?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231515555564?_trksid=p2057872.m27…
    Samsung U28E850R 28" LED LCD Computer Monitor 1MS UHD 4K 3840x2160 16:9 HDMI DP, LED, 60Hz

    • I was tossing up between these two as well. Despite the Samsung having the fast response time and adjustable stand I decided to go for the LG purely because aesthetically I believed was a nicer looking monitor that matched the rest of my workstation.

    • +3

That Samsung monitor has 1ms response rate which I assume it means it is using the cheaper and inferior colour TN panel while this LG monitor is using the more expensive and more colour accurate IPS panel.

    • Samsung is a TN panel which means it has shitty viewing angle and the colour are unimpressive compared to the LG's IPS.

  • A lot of 'I need' in the comments - more like 'I want'!

  • Wish this was 1440p rather than 4K.. be wary that only the top end graphics cards can handle 4K resolution in games while maintaining decent FPS.

  • I am temped…peer pressure!

  • 60hz pssht, that being said, I can't imagine an affordable setup that can put out >60fps on 4K that well.

I still don't get the 4k Resoltuion / Monitor Gimmick
    Cons:
    1. There ain't that much source for 4k movie yet. Even though they do, the bandwidth to download them will be like gazillion. Won't reccomend for those of you who are imptatience for those torrent finishing time
    2. If you currently have 1080p multiple monitor, the transition between 4k to 1080p is very unnatural and annoying
    3. Based on my experience I reckon 1080p is good enough for gaming. The most important thing you need for gaming experience is the smoothness, the FPS stability (G-sync / Free-sync even more better to make it butter smooth without those random usntable tearing) to avoid the frustation from laggy slow fps. Even though it looks really WOW , so crystal clear, but it's not as butter smooth. What's the point? It also heat your GPU like mad and require at least 2 high end GPU (CrossfireX / SLI) to be able to FreeSync/ Gsync (must be around 45-60fps).

    Pro:
Pron, VR pron. More Detailed Vaginions. That's it

    • There ain't that much source for 4k movie yet.

There's no evidence that legit UHD Blu-Ray playback will ever be implemented on a computer. Even if monitor is supporting HDCP 2.2.

Even if rips do become available, LCD's crapsh!t 1000:1 dynamic range and lack of HDR won't provide intended UHD experience, never mind, hyper lossy compression that are rips.

For legit streaming, h.265 is no panacea for the average 6mb/s internet connection or higher if sharing bandwidth.

For gaming 1080p is enough. For anything else such as browsing etc… I can say that after I got a 4k screen I can't go back anymore. I just like the retina-ish look much more than the pixelated look that 1080p gives me.

    • +2

Based on my experience I reckon 1080p is good enough for gaming.

Based on my experience CRT tube TVs are good enough for gaming as well.

    • Similar thoughts have two monitors on my desk. I run them both at 1440*900 to make it easier on my graphics cards.

However, I dont really upgrade my monitors often. I use them till they stop working. My oldest monitor is approaching 9 years.

Which means if I could fit this monitor on my desk.

However in 4 years or so, I'm sure there might be more 4K content available, and I'd have a new computer to handle the monitor, which I will be upgrade this year or the following one.

  • +2

Back again. More than 10 available when I checked just now.

    • Still more than 10 available after I pulled the trigger

  • Can anyone point out the best 27"+, 1440, gsync for bang/buck?

  • I am using RX 480 at the moment, can it drive this monitor ???

    • drive it doing what??

      • Watch movies, play games on decent settings.

        • Movies are fine. As for gaming, it depends on what games. With newer and more demanding games, you will have to reduce the in-game setting to Medium to High at the most.

        • @edfoo:

          Thanks edfoo.

I have intention to upgraded to Rx 490 when it comes out next year. So I am not sure to buy this one or go for a bigger screen such as Acer Predator XB1 XB321HK or Samsung U32E850R

    • Yes, you can watch 4K HEVC 10 bits movies if you somehow managed to get those. RX480 can decode up to 4K60FPS movies. The 480 can decode VP9 by hardware as well which means you can watch 4K youtube video with your CPU usage next to 0.

  • +1

How's this compare with the 4K dell?
Price is tempting but I think 27" is a bit small for 4k.
    Give me 32" or 34" 4K.
As for those complaining about taxing the GPU too much you can run games at 1080p and it should still look great since it's exactly 2xh and 2xw.

  • Is this monitor good for web browsing or ps4 pro?

    • Web Browsing yeah. PS4 Pro sort of. The PS4 Pro doesn't render at native 4k, more like upscaling trickery. I'd rather game on a 1080p monitor

  • +1

Thanks OZbargain .Purchased one yesterday now on the delivery.

Just pulled the trigger on this one after doing a few hours of hardcore research on youtube and I have came to the conclusion that for this price and features set, this is the best 4K monitor at the moment. I don't do much heavy gaming but do played LOL occasionally so 60FPS is good enough for me. From what I have seen in review so far for this unit is how everyone seem to be impressed with the colour on this monitor and that's what got me to pulled the trigger. Looking at the competition with the same price point I saw none and if they do is all TN panel(bad viewing angle and inaccurate colour) and at much higher prices as well. The others IPS monitor with 4K and G-sync and you looking at $1200 plus. Therefore, I believed this is an optimal buy at this point and hopefully it will serve me well for the next 3 to 5 years and then maybe true 10 bits HDR at 144hz OLED monitor come out by then at this price (one can only dream).

    • I have GTX 1070, Do u think it it good enough for this 4k monitor?

I played Dota 2 at most of time and Battlefield sometimes.

      • I think Dota 2 at 4K60fps should be fine with the 1070 but I don't think you can do that with Battlefield, heck even an overclocked 1080 couldn't reach 4K60fps with Battlefield.

  • Seems like a great monitor… but if I get this, I will also have to get a brand new graphics card and/or laptop to power it…!

    • Just get a Nvidia 950 or 960 4GB for cheap since they both have HDMI 2 output and you are good to go.

      • +2

        that's terrible advice!

        1. This monitor needs an AMD graphics card for freesync to work
        2. No 950/960 equivalent AMD (which is roughly around an R380) card is going to be able to push 40-60 FPS on 4K (again, for freesync to kick in)

If you cant push out that many pixels, save your money - get a decent 1080p or 1440p

        • Yes if you are into alot of heavy gaming. But for light gaming such as LOL or DOTA 2, the GTX 950 or 960 is good enough and if you like me who primarily use the PC for media consumption then the 960 is the best option since it has a fixed function HEVC decoder. If I were you I get this now and wait for Vega to come out at the end of this year and then you have your Freesync or you can get a RX480 now.

  • Can anyone recommend a good Vesa monitor stand/bracket for this as apparently the standard one does not offer much movement.

  • Sometimes I question if this site actually saves me money lol. Thanks OP snagged one!

  • +1

    If it had G-sync I'd definitely get it… :(

  • Out of stock?

    • A few more available again now.

      • I missed out
        Out of stock again

        • Ah they sold out after just 20 mins, marked out of stock again.
