PS4 500GB Console $329, PS4 1TB Console $359 @ Target

980

Clearance on the non-slim consoles starting Thursday:

PS4 500GB Console (black or white) - $329
PS4 1TB Console - $359

The above don't come with any games; these are just the consoles on their own. This will only be available in store and not online. There aren't too many 1TB consoles around but a fair few of the 500GB Black consoles available. I cant see the slims getting to this price any time soon (just my opinion), so if you have been waiting for a cheap console, now may be the time to grab it.

Is this the cheapest they have been?

    • +1

last year Xmas time was about the same price, with a Big W gift card, etc.
bought mine for $329 I think

    • +2

They were cheaper a few months ago during Big W's toy sale.

    • yep

    • Doesn't really count since it was clearance and not catalog, but Dick Smith were clearing the 500gb ones for 300 back when they started shutting up shop at most of their stores near me.

  • Any 3ds xl deals?

    • nope…

  • -1

any price on upcoming xbox1 games? (recore, forza horizon 3, bioshock collection) :D

    • Bioshock -$79 out Thursday
      Re-Core -not ranging
      Forza - TBC

      • How about dragon quest vii?

        • Is Quantum Break any good?

I've seen the reviews but keen to know how users find it - particularly us OzBargainers!

        • +1

@fookos: its ok. Its no alan wake but not bad either. 7/10

        • I heard its a good game

        • +1

          @fookos: I enjoyed it quite a bit.

        • +1

          @BradH13:

Great - Thanks for the endorsement folks. I might just have to grab a copy :)

        • @ruddiger7:

PS. Would you recommend still playing Alan Wake on the XB1 (backwards compatible from X360)? Does it still stand up as a great play?

        • @fookos: Yep would recommend. I played on PC I think it was controller compatible. Had a great time, very unique and a strong story that was Steven Kingesque

      • Not ranging what does that mean

    • -1

      why you hijacking the post?

  • Will this be in all stores?

    • Yup (as long as they have stock)

      • +1

Is there a limit per customer, I need to buy two ffs otherwise kids will murder each other when one opens it at xmas and the other cant play on it.

        • no limit hombre

        • There are such things as 2 player games, or the concept of sharing…

        • +1

@McFly: Have you played any games in the last 3 years? Two player basically doesn't exist anymore.

        • @BradH13: I wish I'd known that before getting mine a couple of weeks ago.

        • @pizzaguy: Sports and fighting games are about all that have it these days.

        • @BradH13: Yeah, I guess it's going out of fashion, just like sharing by the looks of it. Shame - have a great time playing up to four players with the family.

        • @McFly:

Unfortunately, I won't have it on the main TV and our new house doesnt have a play room, so need one in each bed room. Otherwise it will only go in one of their rooms, and they are 13 / 14. They will kill each other over it.

Agreed to pay for half of both of them, then they can pay the other half. That way they might appreciate it a little more. And I get peace and quiet to watch my TV :D

  • Meanwhile noone wants to buy my Metal Gear Solid edition PS4 :(

  • +3

I'm in the minority who prefer the original ps4 design over the slim. Unless you're waiting for the pro (meh) I'd definitely recommend it at this price.

    • I prefer the original look too. Scorpio will have 2 teraflops performance over the pro though. If they are similar price range jt will be hard to justify the pro.

      • +2

Yeah I won't be in a rush to to purchase the pro. Idk, these mid cycle console upgrades aren't doing enough for me. Proper scorpio reveal should be interesting though, thats a true upgrade.

        • Yeah but why wait for what might be when there is something you can get really soon that will blow everything away and actually have good games?

        • @serpserpserp: The same games that will be released on the standard ps4? I don't have a 4k tv either so there really is no need to upgrade till either my ps4 dies or I buy a 4k tv.

        • @brendanAUS:

By that rationale isn't scorpio just a upgrade too? After all it'll play XB1 games too.

        • @serpserpserp: How do you know scorpio won't have titles that will only run on scorpio? The facts right now are that the original ps4 will be able to play all the same games as the ps4 pro. The only advantage Sony said the Pro has is upscaled 4k and HDR. Unless you have a 4k tv you won't be seeing any benefit.

        • @brendanAUS: The PS4 'Classic' has HDR as of today!

  • Wow so cheap! such an amazing deal!

    • It was cheaper even last year. Still, decent deal though for those who don't have a car like mine.

  • Any deals on Wii U console? :D

    • +4

those deals might start when they supposedly reveal the NX in October

  • Awesome, i will grab one first thing on Thursday

  • are the new Slims more powerful?
I like driving Sims, is PS4 the go or Xbox?

    • +2

Even though that overall I like my PS4 a lot better than my Xbone, I think Forza is a lot more enjoyable than any other racing game series I've played. If driving sims are your deciding factor then I'd say go for Xbox.

    • +1

      No, Slim is same hardware.

PS has Driveclub and Gran Turismo (when it arrives…). Xbox has Forza's, Forza Horizon's, potential for reboots of Project Gotham Racing etc.

Xbox also has force feedback triggers on the controllers, which are pretty damn neat.

  • Do you reckon the PS4 will be cheaper than this when FFXV comes out?

    • +1

I think you'd be splitting hairs at a sub-$360 price point. I don't think you'll ever see a 1TB PS4 at say $300 this year. maybe not until XB1 throws up some competition.

  • Called the local target store and they told me the current price is 429, it was 399 last week. Will wait until Thurs to call them again.

  • They are getting ready for the Pro. Nevertheless this is a great price for a PS4.

  • I bought 500 GB for $359 two months ago! :(

  • Won't the price drop even further closer to the Pro release date?

    • No, the Pro will be a couple hundred more.

  • Kids have saved up their present money and now want a ps4 or Xbox

I used to love computer games/consoles and had the original Nintendo and drooled over friends who had the Sega Mega Drive

Now I have no bloody idea how it all works - which is better, how you actually buy/load games. Do you need a Subscription, how do you share games etc etc

Damn this getting old - when did I stop being fun? :(

Any hints/links to what these consoles actually do now would be helpful. I think I've read you can use them for Netflix/Foxtel etc

      • Done a heap of that

But get a lot of mixed messages - also with all the console updates and mini updates it is a minefield

I'll work it out - was just having an outloud sook

        • I think the mixed messages are due to the similarities of the 2 platforms and their cheer squads.

As far as the new consoles if you don't have a 4K TV (and not planning to get one in the next few years) I (and I think most) say forget about the new versions - I would just go for the cheapest (of whatever side you pick.)

        • They are both practically the same, so look at the exclusive games that interest you most and choose that console.

    • +1

I can relate to what you are saying. Being 38 with family means the last console I owned was a PS2 when my daughter was born. Now I'm thinking of getting a PS4 but no idea how everything works….

    • I bought PS4 some time ago, didn't know what to expect as well. Here's my subjective experience so far:

      • Local multiplayer/couch co-op is practically non-existetnt, as mentioned earlier in this deal. You either play alone (games have gone pretty cinematic, I'd say) or online. Most of online games require PSN subscription, however EA Sports games like FIFA don't.
      • You either buy discs which are required when playing, but can be lent or sold after you finish your game, or you buy online and download. It takes lots of gigabytes usually, you don't need to insert discs (however games don't load faster really), you can't sell them, but there's a way to share them.
      • PS4 has a touchpad on each DS4 - hell knows what it's for. But you can plug in earphones to the pad, which is convenient.
      • I'm pretty sure that the only game that uses the camera, if you're about to get one, is Just Dance.
      • There are not many apps, YouTube and Netflix are there at least.
      • There are "in-app" purchases in some games, but that's easily lockable, I think.
      • UI is shittier than ever, relatively to my phone, computer, the zeitgeist.
      • I expected better graphics, but I don't care that much.

I still enjoy it somehow. However I'd surely enjoy PS3 with a shitload of $5 games and without unnecessary features.

      See
      http://www.co-optimus.com/ (local multiplayer games directory)
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/157351 (cheaper PSN subscription)

      • +1

I absolutely agree to PS3, bought new in box superslim from GT with games, no need to worry about online updates, pop the disc in and start playing immediately, most important is games are all $5, don't care about online, only after campaign mode … last console own is PS2 almost 20 years ago, just to catchup all the good games on PS3 will take me another 10 years !!!

      • Hmmm…

I have 3 young boys - local multiplayer is what it will all be about! Especially when dad takes no prisoners and hands them their arses in all the games :)

Are you saying the PS4 doesn't do it? Or that most games don't really provide for it?

They aren't hardcore gamers - they just want to be able play soccer and stuff I reckon

Do you know if you can run plex through a PS3 or PS4?

        • Plex is both on PS3 and PS4.

Not many games provide local multiplayer, there are some, however. FIFA, Trackmania Turbo, the upcoming Gran Turismo, Little Big Planet perhaps and you're good to go I guess. Not sure about lesser titles from PSN store - you might find interesting stuff there. Just don't expect much. See also http://www.co-optimus.com/

Gonna wait for a 299 + Uncharted deal.

    • +1

      Now this is a deal.

    • Why stop there? May as well wait an extra 6 months and get it for $250.

      • Don't be unrealistic.

I'd rather fly into the future where I already own it and bring it back from me for free.

        • Just following your logic of buying goods.

        • @tranqme:

When the new Xbox One S hit the market, BigW and the rest had the Original Xbox One + a game for 299.

Makes sense for such to occur with the original PS4.

That was the logic, not some crazy number.

        • @Zylam Marex:

Except that's a completely different console.

        • +1

          @tranqme:

LOL the level of daffness you posess is astonishing. No deal is for certain and considering they are both "consoles" being replaced by newer models, the clearance is expected to be the same. Will it be? Who knows, that's where the waiting is involved.

Anyone with half a brain can see my original comment is valid. With the level of daffness you have provided here, I fully expect you to not understand 90% of this comment.

          Good day.

        • @Zylam Marex:

You're comparing apples to oranges, and it seems the point I was trying to make with my initial comment went straight over your head.

        • @tranqme

Why stop there, wait six months?

That was your original comment, I don't think you understand what is going on here, these are clearance consoles, highly unlikely to last 6 months making you comment pointless.

299 is a realistic figure, since we saw it happen with the Xbox One clearance items, and the Xbox One's RRP has either matched the PS4 or been more expensive, thus adding further weight to 299 being a possibility.

          Your comment added nothing.

        • @Zylam Marex:

This comment alone only confirms my last reply.

I was saying that your price wish was unrealistic, I was saying that by your logic, waiting another 6 months to save an extra $50 would be achievable.

        • @tranqme:

Unbelievable, don't think you understand the word clearance, this isn't a new RRP, new models don't come out every year, this is a limited time reduction to clear out old models, what don't you understand about clearance?

Either you don't have the metal ability to understand such or you know you've lost don't have the guts to admit it.

Either way, you lose. There are facts to back up my claim of 299, as with the Xbox One clearance. You don't have anything.

          Later.

        • @Zylam Marex:

You're assuming I don't understand what you're saying because what I said went over your head.

Again, and I can't believe I'm clarifying this for a second time, I never said that your clearance facts were incorrect, I was simply stating that by your logic, you may as well wait longer for a better price.

          Good night.

        • @tranqme:

So you are telling us, folk on a bargain website, where the entire premise is posting the best deals around, a place where there is a record of how things have declined in cost, a place where the entire community is based around sales and deals.. that waiting results in a better deal? That's the crazy logic that I have deployed?

Wow, none of us could have ever imagined of such insanity, I'm flabbergasted. Where's my inhaler?

        • @Zylam Marex:

          Apparently so.

No need to get all worked up over such a simple, harmless comment.

  • Since it sounded hard to get, why not go to JBHIFI for the PS4 500gb for $329? Plenty of stock there.

  • I called up EBGames and they said they'd price match this or the JBhifi deal on the console if someone brings proof.

    • Or you could just buy it from Target

      • My nearest target is a 45 minute drive away, while EBgames is only around the corner from where I live.
Not everyone has access to all stores in OZ.

      • -1

Is the deal steel going on?

  • -1

Went to JB and paid $339 with an uncharted game included.

    • Was it a special in your store or is this their new pricing?

      • -1

Pretty sure like the target sale they're clearing the old PS4s so think it's the new price. You can check with your local to be sure.

    • Went to JB and paid $339 with an uncharted game included.

Was this 500GB and a deal you negotiated or advertised? Nation wide?

      • -1

It was 500GB yep. It's on their website as $339 so think it's nationwide. It was noted on a piece of paper behind the ps4 that was on display as a ps4 hot offer so I just asked for it and they gave it no hassles.

      • Which uncharted game?
