Woolworths Rain-Checks on out of Stock Sale Items?

Does anyone know if you can get woolworths to do rainchecks on out of stock sale items?

Last week I purchased 8 tubs of connoisseur Ice-cream online to be Delivered Yesterday. As most of you know connoisseur's sale last week had them at 1/2 price at $4.8 a tub which doesn't happen very often.

Being a popular brand. The icecreams where all sold out and no ice creams where delivered yesterday.

So if i re-order when they do have stock. I now either have to pay full price or when the next sale is on which would be $6 as it rarely goes to the under $5 mark.

Since i ordered online and have proof That i purchased 8 tubs at the sale $4.8 each price But they did not deliver due to not having stock.

Do I have any rights to a raincheck and can i still get them to sell me 8 tubs at $4.8 each?

On an unrelated note situation. I went into woolworths today and found an item that i wanted that was on their "better than 50% off sale" but this item is also all sold out. Normally it doesn't really bother me so much and i just forget about buying it but after the icecream thing yesterday. It has really gotten on my nerves. Any time they have a 50% off an item. There isn't any stock!

  • Yup, I've been able to raincheck sale items at Woolies eg Bonds. This has been in-store only though.

I've seen "Sorry, no raincheck" on ads before but not tested that.

  • +1

Do I have any rights to a raincheck

Getting a raincheck is not a right, it's a privilege.

    • Their policy is to offer rain checks unless the catalog item says 'no rainchecks', but Ughhh is correct that there is no right to be enforced.
You will be asking them to fulfil their voluntary policy.

  • Short answer is yes, you can get a rain check. Finding a staff member to give you one, well that is another matter

  • Yes. Unless it specifies somewhere rain checks not available, you should be able to receive a rain check.

  • I remember a few times, the staff checked the catalogue to confirm if item was in the current catalogue, before issuing a raincheck. In other words, just because an item is a sale item, does not necessarily mean that a raincheck will be issued if it is out-of-stock.

  • I've managed to get rainchecks for items which were out of stock in online orders. The issue is that you need to ask for them, the staff won't automatically write them. I've used click and collect for my orders and I've either asked at the customer service desk when I've picked up the order or I've made a note in the commments of the online order asking for rainchecks on out of stock products.

I haven't had any rain checks in the past few months so I can't tell you how long the current rain check policy is.

The staff will usually only give you rainchecks for catalogue specials as mentioned above. You won't be able to get a rain check on online only specials.
