Buy 2 Get 2 Free Movie Tickets through Telstra Thanks (Save $25 / $6.25 Per Ticket)

1050

Discounted movie tickets through Telstra Thanks are $12.50. Got an email from Telstra yesterday saying:

As an added bonus, if you buy two specially priced movie tickets within the next 30 days, we'll email you a voucher for two more free movie tickets. Just to say thanks.

Can't find any other details online, so I've assumed an expiry date of 20/10/2016 and a saving of $25 (ie get 4 tickets for $25 spend).

  • Is there a way to buy for specific cinema rather than specific film?

    • +1

With Telstra you're buying a movie TICKET not a VOUCHER, so no.

But this deal will send you a voucher to claim a ticket on in the future. So yeah bit confusing at times.

  • Hmm nothing online, and I didn't get the email (normally do)

    Possibly targeted?

    • +2

Possibly, and TBH I didn't consider that possibility as there wasn't anything that particularly suggested (to me that) it was a targeted offer, but I can't say for sure that it isn't. FWIW the email I received looks like this.

PS. I've updated the title to indicate it may be possibly targeted.

I'm not sure why people post targeted offers on OzBargain. If you are targeted, you get the email and you know about the deal. No need to be reminded here. All it does for everyone else is to get you all excited about a deal, only to find you aren't included. Same thing happens with PinchMe offers. Am I missing something?

  • I wonder how soon they send the voucher. Would be nice if we receive it in time for a group outing or double date.

  • Just reminded me of a common promo phrase you often see in Asia:

"BUY ONE TAKE ONE!". Well that's the idea, isn't it?

    • Travelling Thailand recently I saw "Buy 2 Get 1" haha!

    • I always see "BUY ONE FREE ONE".
Haven't encountered "BUY ONE TAKE ONE" yet - same thing I guess :-)
I will lookout for this phrase next time over there … just for curiosity sake.

  • if you buy two specially priced movie tickets within the next 30 days, we'll email you a voucher for two more free movie tickets.

What is a specially priced movie? Anyone knows what that means?

    • I think it means the specially priced tickets are $13. So take advantage of buying 2x tickets @ $13 each and you'll get another 2 for free.

    • I don't know for sure but one would think the context (see image of entire email) refers to the discounted pricing available through Telstra Thanks (as opposed to the normal/full price you'd pay if you purchase the tickets directly from Event Cinemas).

      • Thanks guys.
So it would be any movie which can be bought for $12.50 via link, and buying 2 of them to qualify for extra 2 tickets.

  • Is this only for Event cinemas?

    • Telstra Thanks movie tickets are only for Event cinemas. I've updated the title to make this clear.

      • +3

In Victoria, Telstra Rewards is for Village Cinemas, i'm pretty sure.

        • Ok so it varies by state. I've removed the references to Event cinemas.

  • Not a telstra customer. Easiest way to get these?

    • $2 sim.

Also gets you a free burito (if that's still working)

Get a friend on Telstra to get them for you. Once you have the tickets you don't need to prove you're a Telstra customer or anything like that to use them.

      • No friends with Telstra.

        • +3

Make new friends who aren't cheap but I think that's hard to find on ozbargain

Didn't receive any email like this

    FYI: over in crowd support this deal was mentioned about not receiving the free tickets. Take a look for yourself;

  • Good deal, but no email for me too. I probably used it too much for them to vouch giving me free tickets.

Do you go to the movies much using Telstra OP??

    • Haven't been to the movies much, period.

I've stopped using Telstra Thanks when it was cheaper to pay the normal price.

    Telstra Thanks vs Normal Price.

The movie wasn't Movie of the Week. It was just the standard price.

Shows how much I go to the movies.

    • That's either vmax or a 3D viewing. Normal telstra thanks is $12.50 not $15.50…

  • I got a flyer in the mail from Energy Australia to redeem my free two Movie tickets

There's not a lot of good movies out

That's why there's so many promotions going on

Got heaps of offers from events lately $10 tickets unlimited

  • i wouldn't really trust telstra to actually send considering their customer service staff are not great. so buy with the intention of not receiving and look at it as a bonus if they do send it
