How to Purchase AFL Grand Final Tickets

Anyone know how i can get a couple of tickets for the afl grand final next weekend? Im not an MCC, AFL or swans member so it seems they are pretty hard to come by. Die hard swans fan, haven't been able to get tickets in 2012 and 2014, so really trying hard to get them this time around!

Cheers

  • couple of options.

turn up at the G and walk around looking upset and a scalper will find you.

there are usually are people there who have tickets to sell but aren't looking to profit (i.e. won or were given them and won't use them and want to sell)

wait for the end of the 3rd quarter and they open the gates so you can walk in. (sit in one of the nearby pubs having a few beers while you wait.)

years ago I used to do the blowing up of balloons and subsequent release at the start of the game. I was always given a couple of tickets for my trouble. a couple of times it was interstate teams only playing and I sold my tickets at gate price to people there. one year it was a Vic only Grand Final and I stayed and watched. good times.

    • How do i do the balloon thing, that sounds great!

through the scouts (at least when I did it). it was quite exciting walking on to the field prior to the game and then the teams would run on and the crowd would go wild. then release the balloons. the noise. a lot of fun.

I used to live 500metres away from the MCG so it was perfect.

        • Would have been awesome.

Kidnap someone with a ticket and use theirs, easy.

Fat kids are harder to kidnap

  • There are no tickets available to general public so if you know someone who s a member of an AFL club you can et him/her to try to get some, otherwise it's scalpers or corporate tickets

Sydney and dogs don't have that many supporters. Combined they wouldn't even fill the mcg out. I don't see any issue getting tickets at all…

That's not how GF ticket allocation works. Each team gets an allocation of tickets but the two teams in the GF get a larger allocation. AFL gets a chunk for corporate sponsors etc.

Depends how much you are prepared to spend. Clubs are selling packages now $1.5 - $2K.

Is a lot of cash but still may be worth it. I saw the Swans once (got members tickets) and it's easily as memorable as anything else you may spend $2K on. Seeing your team play/win may be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Consider joining your club's membership for future years.

Apart from that put a wanted ad in the Ozbargain classifieds watch Gumtree and hope you don't get ripped off.

  • You could sell your first born, but that won't get you anything good.

  • Go Dogs! Way too long between drinks, lol.

    • woof woof

  • If anyone has any tickets, or a mate who has or anything please send me a PM :) looking for 2 or 3 tickets!

Good luck finding 1 ticket, let alone 2-3…. I wouldnt part with mine for all the rice in China. I reckon many dogs members will be in a similar boat - 55 years is a long time without a grand final appearance! I hope you find one - it should be a cracker… The atmosphere at the Hawks v Dogs game with 87000 there was unbelievable - I can only hope that Saturday tops this!

Take Note: get a team membership and upgrade it to guarantee a GF ticket if your team makes it. My GF ticket cost me a grand total of $375 ($90 for social club upgrade of my membership[ a year ago + $285 for the ticket yesterday). The same category ticket through an AFL package was about $1600.

Walking out of the losing elimination final against Adelaide last year I made the decision to upgrade to social club this year - best $90 I've EVER spent. I could pay this $90 for the next 13 years, and STILL be ahead. Even if we didnt make it this year - I'd still pay it as eventually, it would pay off. Just never expected it to this early!
