Need a New Light Laptop - Is This a Good Deal?

My current laptop is killing me when I need to travel as its just too big and heavy to lug around. So I am wanting to downsize in size and weight. The primary use will be remote web code and server management, basic office documents, emails and myob (not the web version)

I have been researching the other posts and bargains in Ozbargain, and I have found the following which seems like a good price.

Lenovo MIIX 700 128GB 12"
Screen: 12" touchscreen display, 2160 x 1440 resolution
Processor: Intel Core M3 6Y30, Dual Core, 0.9 GHz
RAM: 4 GB, LPDDR3
Storage: 128 GB SSD

Is $749 purchased locally a good price and suitable for my line of work?

I have also heard that Core-M processors are not that good. Would that really matter for the type of work I do?

The other laptop I have found is the Lenovo ideaPad 510-15 15.6" Core i7 , purchased locally for $800. Only problem from specs I see online is the weight and size. But is this a good price?

There have been some serious issues with the keyboard on the Miix 700. They released a firmware update a week or two ago. You'll have to do some research to ensure that the issue has now been resolved.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 14 which I really like. It's not perfect, but has been pretty good. Certainly at least as good as my previous Acer ultrabook.

    • Thanks. I am checking out to see if the keyboard issue has now been resolved with the latest firmware.

If it has, does the price I can get it for make it a reasonable/good purchase?

      • Here's a link to follow up on the keyboard fix. Look like it broke more things:

I almost bought one two weeks back from Amazon for AUD$610 delivered. Probably wouldn't have had local warranty support though.

$749 locally does sound like a decent price.

        • Other than the keyboard issues, how have you found it? Happy with the speed and design?

        • @misa: I didn't buy it in the end. The keyboard issues (and stylus flakiness, which I would have used alot) kept me away.

A few helpful comments in this recent post though:
