  • Everyone's cancelling their orders because the 7th gen just launched.. :)

  • Wait until tomorrow for the ebay sale.

    • Got mine from eBay with 20% discount so yes i suggest to wait until eBay is releasing the voucher as it's worth the buy

  • Page not found, maybe this one?

  • Is "as new" the same as "brand new"?

    • +1

More often than not, yes. They are mostly from cancelled orders or rejected deliveries. They are effectively unopened boxes.

  • A couple of seemingly small issues became deal breakers for me with this model:
The trackpad is ever so slightly unresponsive - I tried all the settings to no avail
The hinge is a little to stiff

Dell eBay has only this XPS model in a 13" (i7 - can't see any in an i5) showing at the moment: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-13-Laptop-Silver-6th-Gen…

Even with discount it still only comes down to $1,794, so I wouldn't be holding out for any XPS bargains on eBay anytime soon!

  • How does the gen 6 i5 6200U compare with gen 4 4200m? there seems to be no direct comparison between the two due to generation gap.

Knowing the 6200U is a low voltage CPU and may not be much better than the older full power CPUs.

Having a dilemma as to upgrade, or not to upgrade…

PS. Rant of the day. Win10 Home edition is a piece of xxxx, as many here would agree to such.

    • I think the biggest benefit would be the battery life - but I'm not too familiar with the gen 4. Personally, I'd probably only upgrade if there was a significant upgrade in battery life and screen quality. Does the gen 4 have the infinity screen? that seems pretty cool.

  • I have this exact spec laptop. It's amazing. I'm not sure what theprojuicer means on the track pad and hinge. I tend to upgrade my Dell laptop every 12-18 months and this has by far the best track pad I've ever used. And there's nothing wrong with the hinge. Most reviews confirm this as the best Dell ever and I agree.

Out of interest, what do you do with your "old" Dell laptops when you upgrade so regularly?

  • These skus have Windows 7 pro. An upgrade to Windows 10 will cost extra (based on my online chat with dell). This makes it less attractive if you want to stay up to date

    • Doubtful… They will be shipping with Windows 7 installed, but the license will be for Windows 10.

  • Deleted.

Price dropped to $1,299 (DFO-3696938XL 18 still available).

    • Thanks! Deal updated.

  • Great price

  • Wow now that is a tempting price

  • How do you get cashback on Dell Outlet? They are offering me only payment over the phone or by chat.

    • There is no cashback on Dell Outlet.

      • Thanks for the answer - it confused me with the "Cashback" button at the top of this post under "Go to deal".

Awesome deal, got one of them.

  • Thanks, grabbed one. Same size as Macbook 12 with better specs and a shade bigger. Winner for me, and with USB-C charging too :)

  • Damn. Sold out:(

    • Keep an eye out - there's bound to be more listed.

I hope so. I've been waiting for ages for a good deal on this. That'll teach me not to wait around. Anyway, thank you OP for posting this sweet deal.

  • Eh, So i bought one and it came today and has a faulty trackpad. Called and they said it was a refurbished unit, not AS NEW as indicated on the bundle code. Not impressed.

    • that's so unfortunate! feeling for you.

Have been following this post and bummed out I missed out on one but..

      • Is a bit of a shame, since it is a nice unit, but this has kind of turned me off Dell again.
Sending it back for a refund. Id maybe recommend others to see if this is a common occurrence.

    • Hmm. That's disappointing to hear, not to mention that it also constitutes false advertising. I mean, I wouldn't be prepared to pay as much for an item that was advertised as 'refurbished' as opposed to 'as new'. Makes me wonder what the distinction is. Regardless, this doesn't engender confidence in Dell.

    • Can't you claim it under warranty?

I ordered two, they seemd to be new, but I didn't check this with Dell. The trackpads seemed a little sketchy on the two-fingere scrolling function. I updated to the latest trackpad driver which fixed it on one and upgraded (free) to Windows 10 on the other. Both trackpads now work perfectly. No other problems so far.
