Is this a good deal for 215/60R17 tyres for my 2008 X-Trail

Hello OzBargainers,

I am due for some new tyres on my 2008 Nissan X-Trail. Tyre size 215/60 R17 and I was hoping to get your advice on whether or not I should pull the trigger on these tyres from Bob Jane.

Yokohama Geolandar SUV G055

As per their latest catalogue and website I can get a ‘buy 3 get 1 free’ deal which I have been quoted for this size in WA as $675 for all 4 tyres fitted, balanced and aligned. Also, after 5000km a free follow up balance and alignment.

Think it’s worth going with this deal. Please let me know or even suggest a comparable tyre and deal.

Cheers,
Haaaaaadouken!

Just booked my car in for some Geolandar AT-S tyres for $680 for all 4 tyres fitted and balanced. That's a decent price I think. The bloke was charging me $205 a tyre + fitting and balance.

    • Cheers mate. Good basis for comparison.

Those tyres will last you well, but they squeal like a b……

every roundabout makes you look like a hoon !

    • Funnily enough I read that in more than a few forums. They nickname them 'Geosquealers' lol

we have a 2011 xtrail (t31) so slightly bigger tyres 225 60 17 . i bought Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Seasons a year back , cant remember but around your price I think, got them at KTAS with the same free rotate every 10000km etc.
Call KTAS and tell them your price from bob jane and they will beat it (thats what they did for me when I mentioned the price from Jax tyres)

    • Those tyres get great reviews and a quick google Jax do them for $195 a tyre. Definitely worth a look if they are a much better tyre and it'll only run me ~$100 more overall.

remember there are Pirelli Scorpion Verde and Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Seasons. 1st ones are 100% road, second is 10% offroad - tiny bit chunkier and better looking, they have been great tyres so far and as quiet as the original dunlops (that are way too expensive)

        • I'm really liking the look of these. I might try suss out the cheapest price online I can and see if KTAS will match it.

          @HADOUKEN:
KTAS didnt even argue the price, I just said over the phone I could get the tyres for $xxx (was the cheapest I found) and they beat it, not by much but they still were cheaper.

        • To be safe, I got a quote fitted from tempe tyres (generally regarded as one of the cheaper online stores from what I have read on here and WP) who can fit 225 size for $175 each ($700 all 4) for what seems to be a more far superior tyre. I should look into which of the 215 or 225 widths are the better choice. People do seem to love the Verde All Seasons very much. I will most likely go with them.

Have these fitted to my X Trail. Early days yet for these tyres but so far so good.

You could maybe save a few dollars a tyre looking at passenger type tyres than a highway terrain SUV tyre but 675 isn't that bad.

I'd be checking if you want an all terrain tyre instead though, as for a small premium in the 3-for-the-price-of-1 deal you might be able to get an AT tyre. Useful if you take your x-trail on gravel/dirt/mud roads often. E.g. the G012

    • I did have a look at those as well - The G012's that is. They are indeed a nice looking tyre however, the amount of times I would use them offroad wouldnt be worth it. I did read reports the road noise on the G012's was quite high although to be expected on an offroad tyre.
