  I downloaded PDF on Wi-Fi at a Westfield. Tried to open - download failed. Tried to download again - all 5 downloads were used up in failed download😠
  
  But still can download in different format, or individual chapters in PDF format, or sign up for another copy.

  You can't cancel a report but you can let moderators know in the Talk with a Moderator forum to disregard your report. Anyhow since I've seen your comment now, you won't need to do that on this occasion.

I was just testing how insecure the website is. I can't believe a 32 character string is all you need to steal a download! Though at least I don't think they share associated contact details.

    Yeah, but it seems they always use the same insecure non-authenticated URLs for downloads - even for non-free purchases. I don't want to buy an eBook to test my assumption :)

    I didn't. These were just manual purchases.
    
    Although you have a one in a zillion chance of guessing the download id it's just very unusual. Not only does the site not require a secure HTTPS connection but the direct download URL will show up in the browser history with no authentication needed (even if it was secure).
