My Kid Broke an S2 9.7" Samsung Tablet LCD Digitizer What Do You Recommend? Fixing or Getting a Cheap Tab

I took off the broken LCD from the tablet, there are few dents on the corners, but It should be a straight forward process to attach a new one. The only problem here is that the screen is very expensive $300~$350.

I searched AliExpress, and there are plenty of cheap tablets out there, the S2 was really fast and the screen is very nice and clear though.

I really don't know what's best!

Thanks in advance,
Cheers

Edit: Samsung / Sydney price for the repair is $329.

you wont be able to go froma great tablet like the S2 to a cheapie. Get it fixed, it is still a great device (thats if its still ok after you have taken it apart now).

    • It's not possible to have it tested, I took it to a local repair shop and they don't have such screen yet, as they need to order it online for 350$ and they never mentioned their fees.

    • I took good care removing the broken parts , but not sure if there are any other problems. They should make screen compatible!

  • You haven't mentioned what S2 is it a 4 g one or just wifi.
eBay good guys is having a sale soon, 20% off so maybe check the price then.

Also see how much Samsung will charge, may be cheaper than the local guy.

    • it's the Wifi version, I also had it before when it went on sale from a post here on OZB

        Hope it helps.
If you get it make sure it's the brand new model cos I think the older model with same name had a lower resolution screen.

since you are getting a new tablet may i suggest that you get a mhl to hdmi adapter so you use your tablet with your TV / monitor

    • and do I need a keyboard/mouse to control the Tablet ? the screen is totally removed

      • Not sure of the specifics, but you might be able to get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to control the tablet.

I guess the issue here is how you are going to configure the bluetooth keyboard and mouse in the first place!

Perhaps there are wired keyboards/mouse configurations that can help u set up the bluetooth mouse/KB at first instance?

Not sure maybe someone can chime in and help.

        • Thanks for that, I found so far two types of MHL adapters, I took them both now from ebay and I'll tinker with them to see which one fits. Looks like there are some people complaining of MHL not working for them in newer Samsung versions produced after 2015 like the T819 (The newer version of Tab T810 and T815 S2 9.7") maybe for it's higher resolution which is not found in any other tablets before! will see and I'll put the results here. Thanks once more. Cheers
