12x 660ml Bottles of Imported Stella Artois $30 (Normally $55) @ Dan Murphy's & Woolworths

800

Great price drop here. You can also buy single bottles at only $3 each (normally $6.50). Called a couple of Dan Murphy's stores to check stock, and if you're quick, Fawkner VIC confirmed they have 2 dozen left at $2 per bottle as they're close to best before date (Oct 16). Maybe other stores do too. Call 1300 723 388 option 3 and tell the operator you'd like to be put through to a particular store. Enjoy :)

Great price! Not sure if I should go outside right now considering Melbourne is having its own hurricane Mathews :(

  • +1

    Got 2 cases, thanks TA.

  • nice price

  • It's UK brewed, but the price makes it palatable.

    • +4

Does that make it impossible to refrigerate?

Stella is an interesting beer, have tried it from a range of countries including uk and Australia. Tastes different from each one.

The most interesting one is asahi brewed in China, I returned it for a refund on principle.

    • +1

It is the same with Heineken and Carlsberg. Not only the bottles but also the draught tasted different. I tried them in Aus, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bali, Malaysia and Singapore and lolz each can be considered completely a different beer.

  • +1

no one asked but like to say it's pronounced stellar ar- twoah

    • -2

Nah it's actually pronounced stella art-oh-iss

      • -1

        Wiki agreed with stellar artwoah,
It really depending on what language it's from

  • The unique Stella Artois yeast strain adds a light to moderate fruity, cooked pineapple aroma and creates a clean, crisp medium bodied flavour with hints of cooked vegetable.

(Description taken unchanged from DM website)

    • +1

That was what the brewer had for dinner the previous night and felt very hungover when malting the ingredients for Stella.

      • +4

Cooked vegetable? How is that appealing?

  • Great Price!

  • Keen on purchasing a case but just wondering how they compare to the cans, more so the taste as I understand you get more from the large bottles.

  • Note alcohol content is 4.8% - less than what it had been previously.

    • Alcohol content varies depending where it's brewed. Must be altitude related..

Expired beer is not a bargain

    • Not expired. Where did you get that info from?

      • -6

Best before Oct 16 as per your description. Quick copy/paste and no read. Change your name to lazyarse.

        • +3

Beg your pardon? You do realise Oct 16 is still a week away? Read the description again carefully before you accuse the wrong person of being lazy. Oct 16 was mentioned in reference to the $2 bottles being sold at Fawkner.

        • +2

@tightarse: you are petty lazy though, only >2500 posts? What is this, amateur hour?

          /S

    • Would you rather to have your passion pop tonight,Sir?

Anyone have any good deals on dark ales at the moment?

    • Would love some dark beer too!

  • +1

I was so happy when i read the title and said "imported". Expecting to finally have found the belgian stella they stopped importing about 4 years ago to save $10 a case!!! I swear the UK version tastes like VB, used to be my favorite beer, now i just tell it to the kids as a story about how i used to drink a great beer back in the day. Dont make em like they used to.

    • +2

Costco sell Belgian Stella - $38 case last time I was there a couple of months ago.

      • +1

I find it hard telling where it comes from (not really written on the outside of the case, but its on the bottles). Thanks for the info, i will drop by costco and check it out. Im quite excited

        • +1

          >not really written on the outside of the case

Country of brewing is clearly written on the case: at Dan's it's brewed in th UK. At Costco, it's Belgian: see
          https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/83820413/stella.jpg

EDIT: Availability may be patchy - Costco seem to alternate Pieroni and Stella (at Docklands, Vic, usually only one or the other is in stock).

  • Does this taste same or better than Becks imported 12x660?

  • Watch out for the expiry date before you bring it home…

  • Thanks TA for the deal & Jak for the reminder!

  • Still waiting on my Sol and Becks to be "picked" and delivered to Casula after ordering on Sept 29th… :-(

    • +1

I had some guy from Uncle Dan's call me last Firday to say that they were out of stock and the Becks on hand had expired so they couldn't fulfill my order. He said that he was going to issue a refund, I told I would prefer him not to and I was happy to wait it out. Well the wait is going to be 2 more weeks and in some cases they will be delivered for free.

      • I just called them - apparently it has already been picked and ready for pick up (just today???). But my online account still has the "awaiting picking" selected and not "ready to collect". Oh well, I'll guess I'll swing by on my way home (only 4 km's out of my way) and see if it's ready. I'll be a bit pissed (figuratively, not literally…) if it's been sitting there for a week and they didn't contact me! And more pissed if it's not there I suppose…

        • Let us know how you go, I had the same deal as @jzx100 :(

        • Ok, so my order is apparently "on hold" - not sure why I wasn't told this on the phone. So i'm still waiting. They obviously sold out and didn't anticipate being oz bargained. There was no stock of either available at Casula. Hopefully will get fresh stock now.

  • Cheers, got 6 cases :)

  • I never got my Becks… do I try again with this? :\

  • I ordered two and just got home with them. I noticed that the best before is 16 October. It never said that online or in the order so I'm a bit annoyed. :(

    • Got some from Dans and best before Oct 2016. Agreed. Poor form Dan's for not stating on website. Got more from WW. Best before Mar 2017. Stock up for Summer!

Drama plus. I complained in the follow up survey after the purchase. They called me up to apologise at work yesterday. They said if you don't mind, you can go into DM and have them swapped out for March 17 ones. I said, you sure they have stock? Cos I dun wanna go all the way back in lugging 2 cases for there to be no stock. They assured me there is stock and I can go swap them out.

So I went in today. Guess what, no stock….. :|

Anyway, after much checking of systems and more apologies, I just said, swap out for something else please. She felt so bad the let me swap out for 2 x regular Stella cases which are usually $48 a case.

So at least after all that drama, I walked away with $96 worth of beer for $50 after the Amex $10 cashback :)

  • IGA in Dandenong have Becks 330ml for $35 a slab. The are brewed in Germany and are the full 5% Alcohol, Dans has the same for $49 but brewed here and is 4.8%.

  • Just collected mine, best before March 2017 :)

  • Merged from Stella Artois 660ml for $3 at BWS St Lucia QLD

Just went to my local BWS in St. Lucia and they have Stella Artois 660ml bottles for $3. Good until March 2017.

    • Not bad…

With so many below cost going on within Woolworths, I feel like those morons run Dick, Masters etc are running Dan Murphy now - the only star in the chain

      • Price war and cutting each other is not a solution for a long term business. They need to start offering something unique and different to be able to success. The honeymoon days is gone as competition is getting more though for them :)

    • Cheap enough to encourage the kids to drink instead of finding meth.

    • Same price in Dan Murphys, with a warning 'stock reaching best before date' but no specific date listed. Good find though mate.
