Received the following email.

The codes look generic.

I assume it's in USD.

Sorry I haven't messaged you for a while….kind of had a bad month or two.

After we launched the KeySmart Rugged we had a huge increase in orders.

Our customer service team at [email protected] was working overtime but just couldn't keep up.

At one point [email protected] was behind on answering over 15,000 emails, and my inbox was equally jammed which definitely upset some people :(

So, I really apologize if you tried to contact us and ended up waiting a long time for a response.

The whole thing was really my fault because I didn't expect us to get that busy.

In response, we hired a few new people to help out. (Yay…new jobs!)

So you shouldn't have a problem contacting us in the future.

I wanted to make it up to you by giving you these discount codes that are good through October:

Use These Codes To Save:

Save $5…No Minimum Purchase : SORRY5
Save $10 With A Purchase of $30 or More: SORRY10
Save $25 With A Purchase of $60 or More: SORRY25

I hope you accept these discount codes as a token of my apology.

If not…you can always yell at me via email here: [email protected]

Apologies,

Andy B.

P.S. In summary…September and most of August was a bad month for KeySmart customer service. We apologize. Please take the discount codes above as a token of my apology.

I've personally had one of these for about a year and find it great. I used to have a large dangle of keys and now I have approx 10 keys down to the size of a swiss army knife excluding my car key. Great gift idea for Christmas.

Shipping is 4.99USD. Base model in red is thus 20.97USD delivered (roughly 28AUD).

You can get knockoffs from eBay for ~$5-10. Or the Ozbargain way would be to make your own!

    • any links =D first time i have seen this and looks pretty good.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162211825347

Looks to be a straight knock-off - all the images are ripped from KS.

        • thanks got the ebay deal ( should post it)

        • @turk182:

It's a knockoff, so don't think it's legit. :P Also the style is probably from the original? And may not be the extended length for those who have long keys.

        • thats more like what the price should be.

  • So, how long did you have to wait for Andy to reply ?

    • There was mention of August uo above. Definitely long enough to alj away and not look back.

I prefer the leather Orbitkey www.orbitkey.com which is an Australian company I believe. They have free shipping on orders over $30. However I appreciate it is more expensive and they are expensive for a key holder. However they tend to put out a 20% off before Xmas.

Massive increase in business = bad month or two.

Your forgiven, just don't become successful again.

I hate to be that guy, but based on the description I don't have a clue what this is actually selling.

    • seems to be some type of keyholder.
Looks to be really expensive for what it is. And for me little use.

  • Thanks OP been meaning to get one. And confirmed discount is based off USD.

Alot of my pants getting pocketholes so this may be cheaper in the long run for me

  • Bought one on Ebay that was quite similar for $2

Has been great but screws get loose from time to time (same as Keysmart) - not a big issue.

I bought the "EDC gear" one.

  • I've got one of these, bought from Massdrop a long time ago, amazing, still works, haven't needed to tighten it, and you can get expansions should you need to put more keys on there. Definitely recommend the Keysmart brand, worth every cent.

I've had one of these since the Kickstarter many years ago.

Honestly if you have more than 6-7 keys or any weird shaped keys (like all 3 of my different bike locks) then you will end up hanging them off a separate key-chain anyway.

Here's a quick summary for anyone considering them:

    Pros:

-If you manage to not have unique shaped keys, it silences key-jingle completely
-More comfortable to carry a solid object than a bundle of jangly keys
-Looks interesting and if you have 5-6 keys you can use it as a bottle opener
-You can add usb keys and blades/lights, all you need is a key sized hole and a length/thickness restriction
    -Minimalism is your fetish (guilty)

    Cons:

-If you get alum/copper ones it will scratch up quite quickly, my blue aluminium one looks pretty ratchet
-Titanium one is stupidly expensive and wanky
-Easier to loose since it is a single solid object
-Can't deal with unique keys - which are often the most important (equipment keys, bike locks, star/multiprong/security locks
-You might be a keychain hoarder and all your useless trinkety crap won't fit on this thing

Edit: seems like a lot of the KS options are no longer available anyway.
