1 Week Family Holiday to Perth in February, 2017

Hi,

I'm looking for accommodation suitable for a family (could be a self-catering apartment, resort or hotel maybe with breakfast included) from Monday, 13th - 19th of February.

Really just looking for a decent place that doesn't cost the earth. I haven't booked a holiday on the Internet before so please share any tricks you may have.

Also, looking for flights from Darwin to Perth return as well as car hire.

I'm not certain if Flight Centre is necessarily the best place for booking travel so I thought I would check first with the OzBargain community :).

Thanks heaps ;).

Are you here for anything in particular?
    How old are the kids?

February will be hot, but you're coming form NT so you're used to hot :P

    • Hi, I've got 2 friends that I would like to catch up with but besides the lovely beaches and maybe a day trip to Rottnest Island it is just a week break away from the heat and humidity here in the NT.

      The children are 13, 8 and 5.

Will you be hiring a car? Do you have a preference for areas? Perth is pretty big… what sorts of things do you want to do?

    • Hi, yes I do need to hire a car for the week. In terms of areas, we don't mind staying at places suitable for families. Where are the best beaches? Is there anywhere the children could do some snorkelling?

    How many in the family?1+3?
What's your approx budget per night?
    AirBnB may be an option

    • That's right altomic. The break is just for me and the 3 children. I haven't really thought about a budget per night and I don't really know what AirBnB is so just about to Google that. I think the budget is dependent on whether the accommodation is a self-catering apartment or hotel with breakfast included.

Only Qantas and Virgin fly direct from Darwin to Perth.

Honestly I believe you can get a cheaper flight if you fly low cost airlines (Jetstar/Air Asia) via Bali. Indonesian visas are free for Aussies now too. However you may need two separate bookings.

Jetstar does have a sale right now for Bali flights next Feburary. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/270313

Edit: Okay my mistake it's probably still cheaper if you just book Virgin $340 return…
