Saw this at EBGames Booval QLD today, dunno if this is a good deal of not. If not, how much do you think I could flog my PS4 off on Gumtree for?

    This probably belongs in forums.

    • Yeah, I wasn't sure. I figured it was technically a deal even if it's a bad one, so I'd just let the free market decide.

      • Not really ozdeal though.. is it?

They're valuing your PS4 and one game at $210. That's around $100-$150 less than Gumtree.

    • Yeah, I had a look at Gumtree, lots of people trying to sell them, saw one with 8 games for $350 though. Dunno if people actually get what they are asking for though.

      • +2

Yeah it's gonna start to get saturated soon, and the value will drop

      • Very grateful I sold mine a few months ago for 350 and a couple of games :)

Geez, dick used to sell them for $350 new!

        • @coxjon:

target also sold em for 319 with 1 game

      • I got $480 for mine but I had camera, 2 controllers, controller charge station and 4 games? Oh and 750GB HDD

Why did some dip$#!7 downvote this? It was just general feedback for the thread.

        • @hamwhisperer:

Cos the comment was buying a ps4. this is a ps4 pro. it's a different item.

Has anyone ever waited in an EB store and offered to buy it directly from a customer coming in to trade a console? (Even offering them an extra $50 would end up a win for both parties).

    • Makes sense. I know someone who grabbed a deal on a surfboard that was just about to go into Cashies.

If theres one place to get no bargains (besides shitty preowned games) its EB Games

    • They are however convenient for price matching, and their 7 day no questions return guarantee. However if the price difference is more than some amount like 20%,they won't price match.

Untrue, if a store manager is refusing to price match ask to call their district manager. My guess is they are simply making up rules and trying to keep kpi's at a certain level.

If the district manager says the same thing then try for the state manager or send an email to head office. It's possible I'm giving bad advice here and the rules have changed but when I worked there the only thing that mattered was "is it in stock at the other store".

      • They kept on refusing to price katch a game for me and I just kept wearing them down until they said its a one time thing. WTF

  • I'm trading mine to them via this deal as I've had no bites trying to sell mine for even $270.

Department stores clearing out brand new consoles for pittance definitely didn't help people trying to sell there's secondhand.

Too many being sold, so they aren't moving unless they're super super cheap.

  • EB has this exact same deal. Also a reminder that if you're a level 3 member, you'll get an extra 15% trade value towards your trades, 20% as a level 4.

I'm trading in my PS4 1TB with 1 controller and a shitty game (I think Elder Scrolls Online it is lol) and all I have to pay extra is $260 on the day.

So EB has the exact same deal as this "EB" deal? Interesting!

      • Yeah well. My bad. Under heavy meds for a stubborn cold will do that.

      • Given the difference between HN stores id say this is relevent

  • Wonder if there will be a PS4 Pro/VR bundle for $999 for christmas sales/new year drop.

  • eb on ebay are flogging the consoles u trade in for about $280

  • See, I'm in the middle with this.

On the one hand, I could easily get more than 200 for my machine, reckon I could stick it up on Gummie for 250 and get a few hits in the first couple hours.

But on the other hand, Dick Smith were clearing 500gb models for 300 nearly a year ago, and you can easily find a new one for <300 without looking too hard.

So… You could make more than 200 on your own easily, but realistically not a shittonne more, so it's not a horrible offer, but it's not an amazing deal either.

But here's me, I'm like "I could get a PS4 Pro, I've had my PS4 since launch day, the PS3 launch still has a bad taste in my mouth, maybe I should get a new machine just in case" and then I'm like "Or, I could just pay 200 more, and have 2 PS4s, and stick one in the kitchen or something for when the missus is cooking and wants me to keep her company, but I don't wanna stand around and wait for her to finish her stuff" … but then I'm paying 550 for a bloody second machine I don't need.

I think the deal, more than anything else, just makes me think about a PS4 Pro, which isn't a bad thing from their perspective.

  • I assume if you have preordered online (however will be picking it up in store) i will be charged the full amount and cant do the trade in towards the PS4 Pro on the day? However i probs can still do a trade in however it will just be credit for my next purchase.

    • If this is what's what - they can get stuffed. "In-store only" I just assumed meant that I have to pick it up in store. They can give me my $50 back, if that's the case. Makes no difference to them, so I can't see why it'd be a problem.

  • $300 dollars for a second hand console… without a warranty… been used for 8 hours a day for the last 2 and a half years… doesn't run excessively loud… (WHhrrrrr…) thumbsticks on the controller rubbed bare… comes with 2 scratched games… no headset… bargain? or not ?

  • The market price for second hand on ebay & Gumtree usually goes for $280 with one game or so. This deal is not too bad if you factor in the headache of shipping, ebay commission, people claiming that ps4 is not working / damaged and try to claim refund.

i think $210 is actually a pretty good deal if you can't be bothered with the hassle.

Walked into ebgames to inquire about the trade in deal thinking it might be a good deal.

Got ignored for 20 full minutes before walking out of there.

Came home cleaned up ps4, decided to come back in sunday afternoon when it would be quiet.

Walked back into the store with the ps4 in hand and a spare game for trade in, to find 3 staff members on duty all "bro-ing" out mucking around behind the counter.

Walked up to the counter to have two of them disappear and the remaining guy come over to me, only for the phone to ring and him answering it and giving me the "just a second look".

After 5 minutes of waiting went and grabbed one of the other staff members to ask about it to be told, the deal is the deal it doesnt change, pointed out the EB world benefits and he gave me some BS story about how he couldn't give me a number on what the benefits would give the trade in value as i'd have to put a deposit on pre-ordering the PS4 Pro, then ask for a trade in and they'd know the pricing closer to release date.

Asked for a concrete number on what i'd get trading it in today towards it only to be told current trade in deals and telling me how they "think" the deal would go through, after looking up numbers and telling me the deal would go through and with my ebworlds benefits it would knock another $20 off the price, so $350 still to pay for a ps4 pro valuing my 500gb ps4 at $200 for them to lay the hard sell on me and telling me that my game would also have a restocking fee and so would the dual shock 4 (which was in pretty good condition without worn nubs and great triggers).

If I came back on another day he tells me that i'd probably be ducked another $5 off the trade in value for the game (which again was brand new, just opened, AU copy as well) and for the controller being "used".

Told him I was gonna go home and think about it as I did not like that he could not give me concrete answers or numbers for him to turn around and claim they were one of only two stores in australia selling the ps4 pro and numbers were running out extremely quick!

Looked back at him and asked him if he could count, and informed him JB Hifi and gamesmen to name 2 places were also doing ps4 pro for him to try and pressure me once more telling me the store only had 2 consoles left to preorder.

Must have been desperately trying to get his KPI up.

Walked out, whacked my ps4 up on gumtree, sold within 30 minutes for $280.
