  • that can save you time and money:

Our local one is usually about 2c more than the Caltex, so when you factor in the 4c saving from Woollies, it works out the same…

    • it works out the same…

Not if you don't want to shop at what is the abomination known as Woolworths.

How else am I going to collect all the World Explorers cards ???

(Unless of course I buy them in BLUK)

    • +1

BP Wyoming NSW is consistently 4-8cents higher then the caltex and woolworths petrol within 100 metres…

      • BP have better fuel…
That is if you care about what fuel you put in your vehicle.

Nothing beats BP Ultimate in performance

        • Personal Preference

I use 98 Octane, normally Vortex 98 as its 10 cents cheaper than the local BP.

I agree that BP Ultimate is better then any other fuel that BP sell, and maybe it is slightly better than competitors versions of 98 Octane, however, I don't believe that you will see the benefit paying extra for the same grade of petrol when comparing brands.

        • @Scorn:
Depends on what you drive and its tested and proven.

I've tuned my car using all 3 major 98 octane fuels..
BP gains more power and is more efficient. Heaps of people have the same results too

        • @BKZ:

          its tested and proven

Ive found many stats that explain the benefits of 98 octane over 91 octane, but i havn't found anything official that claims BP 98 is better then competitor 98. In fact the stats i found point to a 'placebo' effect, or that shell's V-power 98 is superior.

          Do you have any links?

        • @Scorn: Speak to tuners.

          Also see this http://www.mynrma.com.au/blog/2015/10/02/using-premium-unlea…

And this from a race fuel perspective. Major differences. All use different chemical compositions.
          http://www.racefuels.com.au/dyno_test_results_detail.asp?ID=…

Also a few years ago we ran all 3 over a couple of days, bp, caltex and shell with bp coming on top and shell the worst.

Bp and 7/11 are the same fuel too.

Best fuel is united but difficult to find so i never tune a car for it. Mind you i tune every single car I've owned and always upgrade the air induction system. Easy 10% more fuel efficient with at least 15% power gains

        • @BKZ:

Yep… Links you shared back up what i said that 98 octane works better then 91 (Although the cost difference does not give you the extra benefit).

But lets get back to the original argument…

          BP have better fuel…
That is if you care about what fuel you put in your vehicle.

Nothing beats BP Ultimate in performance

What links do you have to back you up that BP 98 is the best fuel?

        • @Scorn:
My experience in having cars tuned.

Use what you like. GO see forums from HSV through to Honda's and you will see the results.

BP in the tuning scene is the far superior fuel. It's guaranteed to be clean.

I'm over the discussion. Believe it or not - changes nothing for me.

        • @BKZ:

BP in the tuning scene is the far superior fuel

Except for United, and 7/11 have the same fuel?

and back to the first comment.

BP Wyoming NSW is consistently 4-8cents higher then the caltex and woolworths petrol within 100 metres…

and therefore not worth the extra money spent. Very civilised conversation, but i cant justify forking out money for a card that will save me 6 cents off petrol that is already 8 cents more then competitors 98 octane fuel.

        • @Scorn: Lol

I just don't have the time to go over it.

          I agree. Civilised convo :)

Personally I wont be going for the card since I use an associate lease which works very well for my situation.

Running drags and motorbikes you will notice a difference.

Running a normal Camry you will get absolutely zero difference.

The key here is the tune. If you tune to Shell V vs BP Ultimate the final output will be different

          Peace

  • So how much is the card after the 12 months and how easy is it to cancel?

I want to get this using my ABN (although don't make any deductions on my tax for fuel, simply the c/km method) and want to start using the BPMe app that currently only accepts the BP Plus card for in-car payments, so having the bonus 6c off per litre is pretty good.

Can't seem to find anything on the cost of this after 12 months though!

Literally at the bottom of the page:

      "About Card Fees
There are no application or joining fees for BP Plus.

Card fees are charged for each BP Plus card on your account and are inclusive of GST:

3 cards or more: $2.20 per card per month
1-2 cards: $4.95 per card per month"

      • +1

Oh wow.. my bad. My iPad for some reason wasn't showing the whole page :|

Well looks like I'll sign up, use it for the 6 months then cancel it. Cheers.

Edit: Something that should be noted is the surcharges that are charged when paying the account by credit card:

        Credit Card Service Fees

Credit card transactions will incur a service fee. We accept:

        Visa 0.8%
        MasterCard 0.8%
        American Express 2.15%

The rates above are GST inclusive. The service fee will be charged on your next invoice.

Note: BP charges the above transaction fees to cover Merchant Service Fees charged to BP by credit card providers and BP's costs associated with accepting credit card payments for your BP Plus account.

Not an issue when you're getting 6c off a litre, but isn't really worth it after that time when most BP servo's I go to (I've basically used them exclusively for BP Ultimate for nearly 8 years) don't have any CC surcharge.

  • 1-2 Cards $4.95 each/m
    3+ $2.20 each/m

    • +4

So why would anybody get 2 cards when it is cheaper to get 3 cards. What a stupid pricing structure…

      • -2

        Price is for each.

        • +6

          Exactly…

So why would you buy 2, when it's cheaper to buy 3 ???

        • -1

@jv: some people may only buy 1

        • @MrPT:

some people may only buy 1

          I wasn't referring to people buying 1.

        • +7

It's rare but JV has a point here.

          Buy 2 = 4.95 * 2 = $9.90
          Buy 3 = 2.20 * 3 = $6.60

So if you need two cards, buy three, and use the $3.30 on an overpriced item instore!

          JV, You've done it again!

    • -2

      Lets give this some thought.

If a business only wants one card the cost would be less than that of two or three. Thus comments about the pricing are ridiculous. Making additional cards at low cost is of benefit to the fuel company as it can commonly equate to more sales.

Furthermore this post is about six months free. Shall links to credit cards with first year free be posted? Those cards that many cancel after utilising the offer…

Hopefully additional thought can go in to comments so we do not comment for the sake of commenting.

  • I imagine that the first two cards are $4.95 and the third and following cards are $2.20 from then on.

    • +1

It clearly says on their website…

3 cards or more: $2.20 per card per month

  • -1

Hmmmm is the savings really worth the 'credit application' on your history..

    • +1

exactly my thoughts… it amazing that every single thingy is a hit on your credit history… what a joke VEDA is and the whole credit rating system is

      • When sitting down and discussing a credit application in the past this has been no problem.

  • +1

I have been fueling up at BP for the last 3 years and have consistently found that BP Ultimate are the most efficient fuels available (I get lowest L/100km using it), sometimes around 3-5% on average more mileage than any other competitor. Thus factoring in the price it's always cheaper (and better on the car) to always fill up at BP. Recently, this anecdote has been refuted by friends. Was wondering if anyone else any input?

    • Depends on the car/engine I suppose. I found the exact same thing with my old magna, however in my current ford it makes no difference so I just run the cheap stuff.
