Lego Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS 42056 - $359.10 Delivered @ Target eBay using C10AUZ code

560
C10AUZ

Stumbled on this whilst sussing the Target website. You can buy it online from Target @ 399, decided to check their eBay store, it's listed there for $399 so use the C10AUZ coupon code to get 10% off and cop it for $359.10 delivered.

Pretty good considering the last John Lewis Deal at 200 quid.

EDIT: 1.25% cashrewards if you remember! Like I didn't with this post

Brought one. Hope Target take care with regards to the packaging.

    Thanks OP.

    EDIT: Forgot cashrewards too :(

If using Chrome, add the Cashrewards browser extension which alerts you to apply the CR discount on an applicable vendor's site.

I'm going to be that guy, sorry. Bought.

      • Okay, smarty-pants. Can you spot the other mistake?

        • cashrewards actually forgot him ;)

      • :)

I've been seeing so many of these on ebay and gumtree trying to be flogged off.

    • +5

Lego investor moguls thinking they're going to strike it rich in the subsequent re-sell market glut.

      • +3

lots of stores struggling to sell
don't see a resale profit to be honest

        • +4

Would you be interested in co hosting my lego investor seminar? We'll strike it rich. We'll do graphs and stuff and talk about highly leveraged lego index fund with beta values < 1. It'll be like property investing but hell better

        • @jenkemjunkie:
modular yes and star wars ucs good
          this doubtful

          @aussman:
Yeah.. but don't tell the potential investors that!

Thanks OP. Bought one too after missing out on previous deals.
Shame this doesn't offer click & collect to stack with a $100 ebay coupon lol

    • +3

Same thought crossed my mind! But Target offering free click/collect… at BigW?!

      • I pondered such a proposition. That would have been such a meta deal if that worked!

  • +2

Thanks OP. While debating on all the other deals they were snapped up and sold out when I decided to pull the trigger.

Jumped on this one without hesitation this time.

(Edit: Whoa. OzBargained! Got in a few minutes before out of stock again. )

  • Damn it, missed out again.

    Out of stock
It said 140 sold in the last hour when I saw it last

    The definition of ozbargained.

Sorry for my ignorance but why are these so popular at the moment ??

    • +2

From my research I think it comes with a book outlining the car and looks to be a highly detailed model that does justice to the actual car. It may even take a while to build

I'm not a lego head at all, don't even own lego. I'd stress out too much if I had lego sets cluttering up my space…but I can kind of see why people that have an interest in lego would want such a kit.

Without going too deep into this, these are my reasons:

      • More adults indulging their inner-child, as Lego has been around for decades. The fundamentals have remained the same throughout.
      • The Porsche 911 range is the most recognizable by the company.
      • Lego has upped their presentation. Instead of opening plastic bags filled with bricks, this one is presented in a classy manner - bricks in their own boxes (one for the drive train, another for the interior, etc.), rims highlighted when opening the box and a massive coffee table/instruction book. It weights about 1.2 kgs apparently.
      • Presented more as a experience than a car to play with. For example, you'll get to build functioning drive train/engine/gearbox, as opposed to wheels and the body being built on nothing but Lego mass (like regular kid-friendly cars).
      • Scalping is apparently high, though I can't say whether people are actually selling these at a sizeable profit.

Here is a proper, in-depth review (NOT done by a kid, thankfully)

      • +1

I also heard the tyres are actual Porsche tyres as well - that you won't be able to just get spare parts for later on down the track. That detail is impressive. I work on cars and stuff and after what you told me I wanna have a look at it now.

    • Cos… smart marketing and advertising, I think. I don't own any Lego stuff, and don't understand their appeal to adults.

      • +3

Replace Lego with any hundreds of other hobbies, it's not right or wrong, it just is.

  • +2

LOL there will be people on here thinking they can make a profit off these in the future.

    • When they become discontinued, it's possible. It's still a Collector's set.

Not likely right now though - the RRP seems to be driving non-collectors/non-enthusiasts to see this as a bargain to 'flip' in the short term but Gumtree and Ebay are pretty saturated after the recent deals.

As an aside - I don't think many people would have thought the Lego Star Wars collector sets would now be worth up to USD$10K for unopened good condition boxes - (e.g. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-Star-Wars-Millennium-Falcon-101…)

Or the Lego R2D2 sets which are also now discontinued. I think they were about $200 in 2012 and now they're $500-600 and increasing.

(Yep, guilty. I'm a Lego Star Wars nut)

      • +1

Just because someone is asking 10K doesn't make it worth 10K. Until it actually sells & I really doubt it will for that price..

Considering the average price of it in the last 6 months has been 3.2K AUD (new) which is far from 10K USD:
        https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=1017…

Anyway next year is 40 yr anniversary of start wars so hopefully Lego release a nice big UCS set for us all too speculate on & invest in :P

        • The cheapest NEW (unopened) set on Bricklink starts at ~$6500 AUD

The custom builds (i.e. sourced the pieces individually etc.) or used sets go for less.

Agree that worth/value is dictated by an actual purchase at that asking price but as the rarity increases, there'll always be someone with a disposable income or immediate 'need' who is willing to pay.

What looks to be a good Ali option Look what I found on AliExpress
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/32717763952/32717763952.html

  • I saw this at Big W Winston Hills for $398 and thought that was cheap.

    $359 is a bargain.

  • Cannot understand why it costs so much. Is it for kits only?

    • Because there's a lot of detail beneath the orange body - it has a functioning drive train, gear box, steering mechanism, framework and the like.

That, and it comes with a heavy coffee table/instructions book.

  • Seems it's back in stock online temporarily, just ordered one.

    • And it's gone again.

  • Anywhere else to get one?

    • Target website for $399…you'll probably feel dirty paying that now though

      • too true…
